Somebody really needs to explain how to get a cheap reliable (not fast) turbo setup It seems like everybody

says get one but nobody really nows how except for the few more matured members. I

also want to get a turbo and I really dont care about winning races of any kind I just

want to have a unique car that is faster than the average car. So basically thats why I

got the exhaust done I like sound and acceleration racing doesnt do anything for me.

Point me in the direction to get a turbo and run it at 7.2 nothing more unless its free,

and I and most others will be happy with what I assume will be close to 300rwhp

It most likely wont end at 300rwhp. I was there with the Vortech and it was fun. I would've been happy with it for a while, but the urge wouldn't go away.

Cheap and reliable don't really go together...here's a list with some prices for good stuff. You can go a little cheaper and be fine, with something like Master Power turbos. And they;re just examples, especially the turbos. But I know one of mine would support 300 rwhp at least.

Precision 5557 Billet Turbo-$800
Tial BOV and Wastegate-$400 or so if you get it as a package from somewhere with the turbo. About $480 otherwise.
Hotside kit-idk what JT is charging but he is probably the cheapest.
Coldside...$300 should get you dont, CXRacing IC and piping kit from ebay-great quality and price.
Fuel Pump (Focus, GT Supercar, Aviator), Injectors (39# cobra)-$250
MAF-cheapest is a stocker with MAFia-$120
Oil feeds/drains and fittings -$140 or so, depends what you want.
Gauges, optional, but recommended- Wideband, oil pre, fuel pres, boost/vac-$400 with pod
Tuning, tuner- around $550

Not cheap by any means, but you gotta pay to play to play.

And I may have forgotten some stuff, idk it was just rattled off the top of my head.

Thats why I listen to him, there are a few people on these forums I just totally discredit and just say "yea whatever" but I know he knows his shit, and I think he knows I am willing to learn as long as someone trys to teach me rather than give me "your slow, don't waste your time" crap. I would LOVE to hear a nice turbo spooling up in my engine but I don't think I could afford one anytime soon. Plus with a nitrous kit I could always take it out and move it to another car without any problems. If I totalled my car with a turbo kit in it and I could salvage it to sell, I could only sell it to someone with a v6 mustang. Now a nitrous kit is a nitrous kit no matter what car it goes in.

Plus I want the best "sleeper" effect for my car, you can't hear nitrous. Sure if I purge it you can and it does smell, but its not as noticeable as a turbo spool or BOV, or the idle/whine of a s/c.

Now I know I wouldn't really be a "sleeper" because just the mods I am getting wont give me a rediculous amount of power. But it would still be a sleeper compared to other mustangs. And once all said and done I could be able to do every v6 mustangs dream, beat some GT's had to throw that in there, that is NOT the reason why I am doing this. But it will feel nice when I go to the track.

Lastly, it would still make me a unique v6 mustang. I see so many threads asking about turbos and superchargers, etc. But how many of them actually do it? Barely any, I just want to show some of the potential of my car rather than take the easy way out and buy a v8 and spray it. I knew what I was getting into when I bought the car, I knew I would get shit from the v8 guys. But the majority of them that I have talked to would rather see a modded v6 with spray than see a stock v6 mustang. People mod the 2.3 stangs, why not the 3.8's?

If you can afford a nitrous kit, a window switch, blow down tube, and a few refills... You can save up and buy a used s/c or turbo kit. Oh you can quiet a turbo to the point where you can't hear it... Think about it there are stock turbo cars that if you didn't know they were turbo'd you would never know. AIM me sir!

You can't be in a deep hole money wise if you make it back the next week

Ask JT what he would charge to build a full kit....

Use a master power 62-1 turbo for dirt cheap. Seriously under / around 300hp buy a good waste gate and eBay blow off valve.

Then you need a tune and fuel injectors and pump. The 310 pump is another 100$ and svtp you can normally find 39lb injectors for 100$

Not really too bad.

Yeah 800 is for the whole hotside, right? I really don't know I didn't talk to him about it too much because I already had this twin kit. And it really will look pretty cool and be unique. And it'll perform better than the Vortech for sure. Otherwise, if I could have sold it fast I would have had JT make me a kit. Probably with a BB Precision turbo though. But yeah, turbo is a bit more expensive than supercharger, especially centris like vortech. You could get done for around $2k, an only a couple hundred more if you wanted it intercooled. Anything will leave you way happier than stock. And I'd have been happy with my car with 300 rwhp consistently with the Vortech, and I believe it would have lasted a good while.
