I'm a little confused here on this one... The name and url say H-beam... but the picture shows an I-beam and the description says I-beam.

Lucky you! When I went to the junkyard to get myself some new ac control plastic pieces(the two AC plastic piece vents) there was a nice silver wrecked GT that I was going to purchase but someone bought the whole engine/system for over double the guy paid for the wrecked gt. =/

I'm still looking for another donor car atm.

I wish I had the parts. . . I'm workin 12hr days right now so I can get started asap.

Im stayin N/A. I was planning on gettin the engine rebuilt before it went into my car anyway so why not forge everything and make it as bullet proof as possible.

Don't know what the deal with the rods is. Summit Racings part number says its an H, but the description does say I. . .

The engine and GT are easy to find, There is alot of junk yards within a couple hours drive of where I live. Not sure what im spending on GT yet, Once people see cash they are willing to negotiate on prices lol.

Ill check stuff off the parts list as I go and let you know what its costin me

Too bad this isn't a mclaren f1... It won't have a 6L v12 or weight 2500lbs

I agree, It would need a shit load of work before it would do that. . .The motor im putting in was designed for towing. It will have alot of torque but it won't have any more horsepower or be any faster then a stock 99-04 GT.

The possible numbers from 5.4 dohc motor are impressive, but it costs alot of money and that is a road Im really not interested in going down.

Im puttin in the sohc for no other reasons then I want too and it will be a blast to drive around town and too and from work. Im doing all the forged internals cuz I want it too last. I would rather spend the money up front to take care of a "what if" then have to deal with pullin the motor again anytime soon.

This is what I like to see. A new person with a well thought out plane who has done his research and is motivated. Reps for you sir. Keep us updated. Sounds like a fun build. Are you planning on installing gears? It may be a good idea if you lookin for the 2v to be a little more fun to drive.

When I decided to do the swap the first thing I did was look up a 3.6L to 4.6L swap and make a parts list for that. The only additional things need for the 5.4L swap are the engine, the 8 bolt flex plate, and the intake adapters.

I don't have the slightest idea what gears would even be good.

are you camming it and/or doing heads?

with stock cam and heads, probably 3.73's as 4.10's would cut the gears too short.

Are the 3.73 gears gonna be talller or shorter then stock gearing?
The problem with the 5.4L engine is that it pulls harder at lower rpms then the 4.6L but the engine gasses out before the computer shifts. Its really noticable if the engine isn't tuned, but even when it is tuned it still drops off in the higher rpm range on stock gearing.

are you keeping the auto tranny?

stock gearing is 3.27 for 99-04 8.8 GT rears. so yes 3.73 will be steeper.

Where do you think youll be shifting at once you get everything in, that will tell you what your gonna want to get. if your keeping the stock 2v heads intake and cams you might be shifting at like 5500rpms. your gonna want 3.73's if thats the case

with 4.10's and shifting at 5500, youd be going like 35mph on the 1-2 shift, and maybe like 60-65 on the 2-3. youd probably hit 5500 in 3rd around 90-95ish. so getting 4.10's is gonna limit your options there.

especially since it has way more low end power you dont really need a super steep gear like 4.10's to get it moving quick, 3.73's should be plenty with 5.4l torque.
