pats-

I'm still working on my car the fuel pump doesn't even prime..

I changed the fuel pump and nothing, changed the ccrm and still nothing changed the FPDM and nope nothing.. (inertia switch is working properly also)
my theft light is blinking and my odometer reads ------- instead of numbers - this happened after i had a short by the fuel pump connector located under the license plate by the fuel tank. obdII reads no link so tomorrow i'm picking up a ECU at a local wrecking yard to see if it even connects to the obdII .

I thought about the PATS system being engaged but after seeing a few videos on youtube I realized that the fuel pump will prime and let the car start and after a second or two the engine will shut off correct?

so my next thing to do is retrace all the wiring and my only guess would be a bad ground connection somewhere .. my cd player was stolen and they did yank the wires out (bastards) so can that be a problem ?

afaik if pats is enabled it will never start not even for a few seconds, it just turns over and over til the bat is dead.

I'm thinking you have a bad fuse. You should check them

I would suspect pats if the theft light flashes during cranking and the car doesn't start.

checked all the fuses one by one and nothing wrong with it.

does anyone know if the fuel pump is supposed to prime when PATS is activated?

because even before I had any of this problems the fuel pump wouldn't prime.

Keep it simple stupid. Easy stuff first. (these are just saying btw) People blame what they know least. So don't just assume it is the most complicated thing. If you have a tuner, get a tune that disables PATS.

so if the I can't get communication to my odbII what makes you think I will be able to work my way around it with a tuner smart one.

When PATS has a problem doesn't the dealer have to reprogram it and to do this it requires them to use the OBD II port to reprogram it so it does have communication it just won't give out information to any old scanner you might need a ford scanner or a tunner might work. I'm just saying don't rule that out. I could be whong on that to so don't hold me to that.

I just thought about doing the odometer diagnostic you know hold the reset button while turning the key to the on position and I got a code dtcd 9681 and dtcd9232 -after a quick google search I found out that those 2 codes are for the PATS transceiver so in other words the transceiver needs to be replaced so I'm going to be changing that during the weekend and hopefully that'll fix the problem.

I did read in a few posts that the transceiver doesn't need to be programmed. so we'll see how it goes.
