LED Lighting Switches
I'm getting LED light strips under the dash on both the passenger and driver side. I am putting a switch in because I definately won't want them on all the time. I don't want some ghettoass switch just stuck off to the side. I know that on the dash area theres the push buttons for Rear Defrost and Traction Control and theres one unused one next to them. I've been told that the wiring for that one is right behind the cover ready to go.
I think these are called OEM switches and I've seen one for the foglights. I would like to know where I can find one that is made for that spot that is either unmarked, or marked with like Ambient Lighting or something like that. Where can I find one of those switches at? How much are they? How hard would it be to wire it in? |

You're best bet would be to get a OEM fog light switch for 01-04. There's already power and ground at the connector behind the blockout plate so wiring would be very simple.

I think that you can buy them, just search them on google. Im pretty sure ive seen them, if not just go to your local junkyard and pull some out. Dont like thats on the front ? Sand it off and paint your own on it lol
Also, another option is wiring your own switch into the little change holder. pre99s used that as the fog light switch. I think ? Are you going with a tube light, or what kind of LED ? Honestly those strip lights suck so little power, you might can splice in to an exhisting power cord under the dash and use it. IDK though. |

Ive got 2 12 inch 24 LED light strips. Ive got one switch there for the convertible already and I dont want to have to be cutting into that and taking it all apart. I think it'd be better looking with the rest of the OEM switches there.
I did find a Foglight switch from ford racing for like $32 and another from some other aftermarket site for like $42. Was hoping for a blank one but I guess it wouldn't be too hard to sand it off and do my own |

Yeah, 94-00 used a fog light switch that fits in there. The only problem with doing that is you won't have the connector to plug into it under there like 94-00 do.

As far as switches, check ebay if you want to go with the pre 01 fog light switch. They sometimes pop up there pretty cheap.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks on the tip there. I didn't know how bright they would be but the 7" strips just didn't sound like they would cut it.

Yah I might have to stop in a junkyard. I didnt get the whole 30-50 bucks for a switch but hey im not a professional.
Goin with Red lights. I have a red and black theme goin since I have black convertible top I never saw chrome items as looking good. Depending on the degree of wiring difficulty I will either do it with a buddy he is fairly handy with cars and wiring and whatnot or take it to a local car electronics shop. My buddy isn't one for following the instructions. Super Bright LEDs - LED Accent Lighting and LED Modules I got the LT series SMD LED Light Tubes I thought they look fairly sharp and the tube is a nice addon in case they get accidently kicked or something. |

THere is an electronic forum here, might check it out and do some searching
Also, i didnt look deep into that link, but there are lots of options out there on LED strips Id look around and see what you can find. My dad was looking for some to put in our new boat ... it doesnt have much lighting in its storage areas ... |

Those have already been ordered. Christmas gifts
I just need to find one of those OEM foglight switches. I'd hate to pay as much for the switch as I did for the lights. Guna have to check the electronics threads then. I did some forum searching earlier with no luck though.

You can always buy a cheap switch somewhere and drill into the dash in a hidden spot ...

Nah, That's not for me. I was thinking about getting a chin spoiler too. I saw you had one. so I figured you'd be one to shoot some questions at... I found one on AM for 89 bucks I think.
How easy was the install on yours? Do you like it? (Worth price, turns heads, do people notice?) Does it clear parking blocks at all? |

Well, many people have them! 100$ for it ... mmm expensive for what your getting but if I got a new mustang, id buy one for it too
Very good looking, ties up the front end that looks so imcomplete w/o.Install was very easy IMO. Did it by myself. Jacked the car up for some working room. Took some duck tape and rolled up several pieces and put it on the chin. I stuck the chin in place and played with it till it was where I wanted it. Next I took a sharpie, and made marks through the pre-drilled holes of the chin, on to the bumper. Removed the chin, drilled the holes to the correct sizes matching the included bolts. Stuck it back up with the tape, and started putting the bolts in. Grabbed a wrench and ratchet and got after it. I wash it and put armor all on it for a clean, glossy shine ![]() I have scraped it in some streets, but nothing that was obvious. A dog chewed on it some, thats the only noticable marks on it after several months of it on... Curbs and such, it has always cleared. |
