I want to be able to have clients in my car and talk to them...

Hmm... Maybe try some anti-whine oil once the break in period is over if it isn't fixed?

Oh you can't tell me it's THAT loud that it would be disruptive to talking. And my car had some whine from the factory at 45-50 cruise. On the other hand I don't think my motive 3.73s have any. But if its that super loud then theres a problem. A slight whine at a certain mph is nothing to worry about.

after the break in, im sure you could drain some of the gear oil and out and put in like 140w or whatever it is

motives shouldn't really whine much because they are a softer gear. just make sure to stay under 50mph and keep varying speeds as you drive to break the gears in. After 500 miles, you should get your gear oil changed and the whine should decrease.
I have richmond 4.10s set at .0008" backlash and it whines decently around 35-40 mph and a little bit at highway speeds. Maybe you could ask the installer what the backlash was set to.

he said theres a number, i forget what its actually called, but he said for the 7.5" ford that 12,000 is like the factory tightness or whatever and 6000 is like dragstrip tight lol. so im gonna tell him to do like 8000.
yo i texted him and he said it was the backlash lol. itll be 8 thousandths of an inch not 8000.

so what your hearing is absolutely normal, there is nothing wrong with hearing some whine, alot of people think whine means they weren't installed as good when it actually means they were installed nice and tight and will be alot more durable

now if its a weird sound then somethings wrong haha but some whine isnt a bad thing.
I always thought it was from those damn nissan guys welding the diff together

Anyway my motives never whined....

Yeah, he was trying to say that 1/3 of all motive gears whine...

I was like "well I hope these don't stay whiney. if you're whiney gear percentage is 1/3 I'm bringing you a bill from a better shop"

On the other hand...like I said, my stock gears had that slight whine at around 50 mph. So it doesn't necessarily mean it was a bad job. It can happen. Just like every performance mod you do, it isn't always going to work out perfectly.

And I do believe the numbers you guys are speaking of are thousandths, meaning 8 thousandths would be .008. Just a little note lol.

I just dont understand why cars built with standardized parts should act different when the same standardized part is put in 2 different cars..

I got my car to be a nice looking/sounding car over performance in the first place. If it's all noisy I have problems, especially since he said NOTHING about the noise before the install.
