8.8 swap question


hey guys im looking to do an 8.8 swap on my 01 v6 i know its a direct bolt on when you use a mustang rearend but what about an 8.8 from an explorer is there a diffrence? sorry i looked thru the forums but couldnt find the answer

I honestly think any ford 8.8 would work. The one out of an explorer might require a little modification.

i want to avoid modify it as im not great at it and i will be installing the rear myself

ok i was trying to dig around more and i noticed someone said to look at the rears on the crown vic,grand marquis,tbirds and cougars does anyone know about those rears

because in the next month or so im selling my harley and will be putting a good amount into this car im going to go with f/i and the power pack 3 kit from ssms and i want to have a stronger 8.8

im willing to do small mods im just not wanting to have to do somthing exstentive to retro fit a diff rear end thats y im wondering if there is a diffrence between the listed rear ends and if so what are the diffrences

I think the explorer doesn't fit....the diff isn't centered or something. There was a website that had a list of what fit and what didn't but I can't find it now

ive been looking on craigslist and the classifieds on here and no luck so far i am goig to the junk yard saturday they r $60 there so hopefully i can find one and pull it with out any problems
