Seatbelt defect...HELP!

Alright everyone, I just found this forum and am really needing some input if possible.

I have a 2005 V6 convertible and the passenger seatbelt is faulty. It locks up on my passengers leaving them trapped. It happened a couple times and I thought it was pretty funny watching my friends have to wiggle out of the damn thing , then later on in the day it would unlock once I tried it again.
Recently however it's been getting STUCK STUCK, where it got to the point I had to CUT the thing. My friend was literally strapped into my mustang for an hour and a half before I made the judgement call to do this. I wanted to cry when I did it, but it had to be done. anyhow, my boss just bought his wife the same car and hers is starting to do it also. I'm just irate that I paid 27,000 for a brand new car and the seatbelt doesn't even work. So I take it up to the dealership today after scheduling an appointment last week. The guy keeps interrogating me as if I did something wrong. I told him "Look people are getting stuck in my car, and that was the last straw. I didn't pay good money to have to bring it up here on my off day to have you questioning me as to why I cut my belt. Do you think I wanted this it happen???" Not only that, one of the spacer buttons next to the cruise control snapped off the first week I had it (they ordered it already but I hadn't had the time to have them put it on there for me because I work a crazy work schedule, it was just a asthetic issue so I let it go for awhile), then right next to the cruise buttons the lining on the steering wheel is peeling away somewhat, + the drivers side seat has this cover to hide the electronics for the seat adjustments and whatnot...it's exposing the wiring. So here I am complaining to the guy I've only had the car for 6 months and I have all these silly problems that are pissing me off. His response is "well you should have gotten it up here before 10,000 that is just a bit excessive if you ask me" Okay I travel jerk, i'm sorry but that's not your business how many miles I racked up since I purchased this car, and I work so many days a week I don't have time to drop my car off to get repaired for things that never should have been broken in the first place!!!! GRRRRRR

Not only am I angry at the embarassment of people getting literally stuck in my car, this HAS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE! What if I got in a wreck and my car caught on fire and someone was stuck because my seatbelt was faulty. I'm sorry but this is inexcusable and I shouldn't be interrogated when i've done nothing wrong.

They are "looking at my car and going to see what they can do for me" today, and are going to call me later on. I think I may have a screaming match at the dealership, but i'd prefer to avoid this by having some research to back me up. Do any of you know of seatbelt issues with mustangs ...like places I can go to print something off to show i'm not the only person with this problem. They are soooo fixing this because I have 75,000 miles/7 year warranty. When the guy started to say "i just don't see how you could have let it get to this point..." I got pissed and said "THIS IS NOT MY PROBLEM, THIS IS YOURS... I DON'T HAVE TIME TO DEAL WITH THIS, YOU ARE GOING TO FIX IT AND I AM NOT PAYING A DIME!"

I swear to you guys I am the nicest person you will ever meet, I have never EVER thrown a fit about something like this, but it's irritating that I pay good money every month for that car and i'm being treated like a criminal for cutting my seatbelt.

Input please or email me or aim me Teri020@aol.com THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Sounds to me like you had every right to be pissed. And 10,000 miles being excessive is BS. You have a 3 yr 36,000 bumper to bumper warranty from the factory and you say you paid extra for the extended warranty. They are bound to honor that warranty. They should be all over these little things b/c the technicians get paid for these jobs and as long as they do them Ford warranty pays the claim so it doesnt cost the dealer a thing. If they give you any more hassles I would reccomend an attorney. You made an appointment and something happened before you could get there. Its not like you want your passengers riding without a seatbelt because they couldnt get you in quick enough. As for knowing if this is an existing problem, this is the first I have heard of any seatbelt problems.

um yeah...

The guy was being a huge asshole about it. It was funny though because when I went in and was talking about it, the guy next to him just started laughing and said "serious _______(i foget his name already) what the hell could she have done? They had to let the guy out of the care somehow!" I looked at him with a huge smile to say THANK YOU. SOMEONE who understands me. The worse part about it, I had a pregnant friend get stuck one time...imagine that, and the one that got stuck for the hour and a half was someone I hadn't seen in years and here we are heading out somewhere to catch up , and what do you know he gets stuck in my car. At first he was joking like "well damn teri if you really want to keep me around, you don't have to lock me into your car for a lifetime..just call me!" then when it got to 30 minutes + he started panicking because the resraint was stuck in the tightened position and he couldn't move at all. At this point I just asked him to hand me his house keys and let me scour for something to cut the damn thing with. I don't know the whole thing pisses me off because I paid good money, and I should be treated well for all the hassle i've been put through....and here I am getting interrogated like i'm some child who didn't take care of their car well. HMPH! Jerko lol If I go up there later today and he says something about them not paying it I will honestly go bezerko. My grampa lived died and worked for that company, everyone in my family buys ford because of it and are loyal customers. Why am I getting dicked around?

you can always take it to another dealership if your feel you are getting dicked around or bad service, or ask to speak with their supervisor?

kinda funny but I helped a friend do some maintenance on his van w/chevy 350 this weekend, and afterwards we were test driving it... guess what happend? i couldn't get out of the seat, the belt had locked just like yours! i had the damnest time trying to get out, but was finally able to crawl out.

that sucks that all of these minor issues are growing into one big mess. i have to tell you though- anytime you buy a car for the first or second year of production (seeing as the new stangs are brand new) things are bound to break/screw up/not work as planned and recalls shall follow. just keep an eye on the TSB and Recall lists for your car and when something does break and you have the chance, just drop it off at the dealership.

hopefully the dealer will end the dick dogging around with you and help you out. they are making tons of money selling the new stangs so the least they could do is provide top notch service.

welcome to the site btw!

Well good luck on returning to the dealership. Sounds like youre dealing with an ass of a service writer. Dont be discouraged by te product or the company, the dealership is where youre getting screwed around. If there is another Ford dealer in town I might start dealing with them from now on. Just because you bought it at one certain Ford dealer does not mean youre obligated to return to that dealer for all your needs. Factory warranty is good at ANY Ford dealership in the country.

Yeah thats like the guys here at Beach ford are like four miles down the road but I actually took my Taurus to the Lincoln dealership 8 miles away because they were 394744949575890% better at making me feel like they cared and were not trying to screw me over. Welcome BTW!

Hehehehehe

I bought my 2003 Mach1 at Beach Ford. First thing I did when I got home was remove the Beach Ford sticker from my car. Later on they where less then helpful with a simple request. So I threw the Beach Ford license plate frame and keychain in the trash.

well well well....

I waited around all day to hear from the dealership and got no response. I decided to call up at 5:30 pm to see where exactly they were in the whole process and the guy that answered the phone says "Oh yeah the mustang ...right, it's been done, we fixed the button on the steering wheel, went ahead and ordered a new one, ordered the seat belt stuff, and everything for the drivers side seat has been placed also. i'm thinking "awesome... it'll all be taken care of. Wait a minute, why didn't anyone call me?" lol I just let that part slide, I told him i'd be up in a little bit to pick her up and he told me they were closing couldn't I just leave it there for the night. WHAT. THE. FUCK.

grrrr.

Luckily once I told him "well I would have picked it up earlier had someone actually called me to tell me it was done." he said "well if you really need your car right now I can give one of the salesmen your keys and you can ask them for 'em" Why gee thanks, that's a novel idea. I don't get why i'm getting shafted but whatever, everything is getting covered by warranty so I could care less anymore , that was all I was worried about. I can write a letter of complaint later depending on how the next service visit goes over. It just blows my mind that something is broken that they are supposed to be nice to me about but i'm getting poor service. I just want what I deserve, and paying every month on a vehicle entitles me to that.

Kerry Ford Cincinnati - HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE SALES PEOPLE. NOT TOO THRILLED ABOUT THE SERVICE GUYS. (okay I cannot generalize them all, because I did have a very positive experience with one of their service guys back in november when I had my remote start installed..he was AWESOME, this guy on the other hand hates my guts for unknown reasons. grrrr. I just missed my car, and wen someone starts screwing with me you can forget about it. Perhaps in the future I will have to look at other dealerships when it comes to the service dept.

thanks to all who welcomed me

and thanks to all who listened to me whine like a typical woman lol

Glad to hear it all worked out. If you feel like it was just the service writer who was a prick why not request the one who was nice to you from now on. Those guys get a commission and the mechanics depend on commission as they are payed by the job and not by the hour. If the mechanics start losing jobs b/c of a poor service writer the will likeley complain and he will be replaced. You just have to find someone you like and stick with them. Oh and welcome to the site BTW.
