Power?

hey, anyone know what the stock hp of 04 40th ann. v6 auto is? I have one and i have added true duel with v-force(one on each pipe, not just one thats is 2 in 2out.) with 3 1/25 inch tips, splitfire plugs and a custome intake that runs down into my quarter panel infront of the bumper. I went and had my cats cut out and the o2 sensors monted back into the pipe. can anyone tell me if that was a bad idea or a good one? and could anyone tell me how much hp im throwing down now? i also heard that ford put the v8 transmision driveshaft and rearend in the 04 v6s is that true if so then i can drop a v8 into it without alot of swaping. if this aint true is it possible to put a small v8 like a 351 in it without swaping ?

hey, anyone know what the stock hp of 04 40th ann. v6 auto is?

193HP at the crank

could anyone tell me how much hp im throwing down now?

with those mods probably around 220 crank HP

i also heard that ford put the v8 transmision driveshaft and rearend in the 04 v6s is that true

no it's not true . you have a 7.5 rear end

if so then i can drop a v8 into it without alot of swaping.

swapping an engine is never a small task.

if this aint true is it possible to put a small v8 like a 351 in it without swaping ?

a 351 would eat up that 7.5 rear end in a matter of minutes.

As far as I know all the 99-04 v6's have 7.5 rear ends so no that's not the v8 rear end. If you cut out the cats and plugged your o2 sensors in your CEL popped up, you need MIL eliminators to get rid of the complications computer wise of not having cats. They plug right into where your O2 sensors have aconnection by the end of the wire. If you want a new engine it's going to take a mechanic or the knowledge of one, you can get an 8 in but you'll need a new rear end plus modified engine compartment to fit it. Not like extended but just modified

i know an engine swap is no simple task but all of u only said i would have to change the rearend what about the transmision and drive shaft would i also have to change that suspension in the front to keep the v8 from nose diving my car? with all my modds my car sounds awsome it accually sounds like a v8 at idle but when im driving its sounds good if i stomp on it it sounds like a bad ass tuner(which sounds good but no mustang should sound like a rice burner.would i feel a diff if i change my pullies and what would u recamend(about anything)?

drive shaft would survive most v8's but, you would really want to drop in a high strength allloy one if you plan on modding the v8 at all. tranny i think is the same as the one in the gt's and crown vic's, but i'm not 100% posotive.

first of all a v6 will never sound like a v8, so don't worry about that, pullys will give you a few more hp but no difference in sound, things that will change the sound however are: cams, heads, stroker kit, headers, cia, exhaust, fuel line size, and probably a few things i'm forgetting.

Ya when you get a new rear end (the 8.8) your shaft will be great. You're not really going to get rid of the rice sound, the reason why you won't sond like it a v8 isn't just basically that you are missing two cylinders, it's because our engines fire evenly. Much like civics and such. So even though you might not like that rice when you get on it you can't get rid of it unless you get a new engine

what is wtqp? an 8.8 brand new i don't know, but you can get them from junk yards off of mustang gt's, ford crown vics, murc. grand marquis, lincoln town cars, f 150 i believe, and i think also off of expaditions. not sure on the last two but the price should run you about 350

yes, but again dont' expect to have huge gains, maybe 5 hp and 7 tq max, all they do is change the gear ratio going to your appliances, make it so that less power is used on your appliances and more stays with the drive line, so if you have a huge sound system (1000 watt subs ect.) then they would not be a good idea because they would cause your batterie to get drained and less sound out of your system, if you have stock or mostly stock appliances inside though then don't worry about it, you'll have no problem.

mustang two questions belong in the classic section or the 4 banger section, lets try to keep this on v6ers

yah, then in your case i wouldn't really recomend pullies, unless they are ones that will deliver more power to the appliances which i do beleive you can by
