I did a cheap LED 3rd.

And it worked.

I got it off eBay for I think 36 bucks shipped. It came in and the smoke on it was not really that smoked.. So I smoked it. That came out nice. Then the flimsy connectors kept losing connection. So I says fuck it. And I hard wired it. Works great now.

If you can solder and heat shrink, AND smoke lenses, I would say try it. All in all I spent 50 bucks (light, and a can of tint) which I can use on all my other lights.

Pics.

(I hadn't buffed it yet)

Btw, It is still in parallel, but I changed around the wires, but if you just cut of the terminals and wire those wires right to each other, it will work just fine.

What would happen is when I would get one connector to work, another would quit, so I got tired of fucking with it. lol

That's a good idea...

Have it start from the middle of the 3rd, and go all the way out to the tail lights...

But the LEDs are wired in triplets, so it would look funny..

Still a good idea.

Looks good man, I doubt I could do that. My wiring skills are terrible.

I would still manage to mess it up. Trust me, I have wanted sequential tails for so long, even before I had a Mustang. But I doubt I could even wire those in.

I tried putting an LED bulb in for the trunk light.

No dice.. Too dim. But I have LED strips coming in that I will wire in with the trunk light to illuminate the front of the trunk. (Because the light won't reach there...)

One of these days I'm going to do this. I'm not a big fan of the sequentials. Especially that they come factory one the new stangs...

How hard is it to make your own sequentials? I'm not too great with wiring, but $80 or $90 for sequential taillights seems ridiculous, especially for a splice in.

Well, If I had a pair handy, I could look at what was in them. I'll do some research and get back to you. If the stuff is cheap, I might be able to make a batch and sell them for quite a bit cheaper. That's IF I can figure out how they work.

I saw on another forum a while back of a couple people trying to make their own kits. And actually it was almost a matter of adding a relay (or however many you need) into the wiring of the tail lights.
