K&N drop in filter

If I remove the silencer on my stock intake and replace the regular filter with a k&n will that basically equal a cai? and is doing this as simple as just removing the silencer and swapping filters?

Yeah, but its basically worthless. The only difference is some CAI kits have fenderwell filters. I would go with a windstar intake.

isn't it worth doing for the time being since I'm not going to be able to get the windstar for awhile?

I don't think I would personally waste the $50 on a K&N filter. As long as you have a clean filter in there, you should be fine until you get the Windstar kit (if you're planning on doing that).

Just do it if it'll make you feel better. I spend more than $50 when I go to a bar for one night... More on a woman (I was gonna say whore lol) for about 5 minutes... $50 satisfaction till you get ur windstar... well worth it.

if you got to autozone they now have the spectra still filters.....drop in like factory but use the same stuff has k&n at half the price....... and you can use the cleaning kit that the K&N ones uses on it. worth $20 bucks.....CAI are waste of time....the metal tube holds heat more then the stock tube does.....warms the cool air before it gets the throttle.

I spent a decent amount on a K&N short ram air filter, you'll get a little more pull, but its well worth hearing the whistle sound at higher RPMS.

You can get a CAI for $70 and it at least goes into the fender. You can slap on a K&N filter for another $50. I'm guessing you spent $225+ for that K&N "ram" intake. They claim something like 6hp gain on that, and I'm willing to guess it's at the crank. The only thing you'll really feel from any CAI on our cars is a little better throttle response. And you can get the whistle from a cheap $70 CAI. I recommend nobody waste their money on a K&N CAI for a 94-04 Mustang. You can get the same results from cheaper brands.

You're not the only one man. I got a CAI before I knew about the Windstar swap

Just because of that statement I don't feel like as much of an idiot for buying the AM CAI last March. Still got the stock air intake for whenever I sell the car though. Always keep the stock parts, hell I still have my fishing pole for a antenna when I got the 8" one.

I've tried both fenderwell and short ram... Fenderwell FTW.

If you're gonna spend $50 for the K&N drop-in, you might as well buy a fenderwell CAI for $60-$70...

I think I have my fishing pole for an antenna, and my door handles....

Like any of that shit is ever going back on the car.

You shaved your door handles??? I didn't know that. And I know my stock parts will never go back on the car. Especially the rims when I take them off and put the bullitts on. Those should be thrown off a cliff..... Or sold to a ricer.
