Remove shifter bezel inside cabin and remove shifter from top of trans.

Remove exhaust, which is pretty simple, 6 bolts total and 4 electrical connectors (for stock exhaust).

Remove driveshaft, I beleive 4 bolts at rear end, then it will slide out of end of trans. (I would drain trans in very beginning actually so less fluid spills). You'll have some fluid leak out of d/s.

Then remove trans from bellhousing, 4 bolts at trans brace and I believe 6 bolts at bellhousing, don't forget electrical connectors as well.

You can leave the b.h. on to just replace the tob. Just take out the clutch fork (you'll have to disconnect the clutch cable at the b.h.). There's an inspection cover on the b.h. you can remove to get the fork out.

Grease the new tob on the inside diameter and also on the face that contacts the clutch fingers. Clip new tob onto clutch fork, install into b.h. and do reverse of all steps to reinstall everything.

Don't forget to refill trans with proper amount of fluid.

**These instructions are from a 2000 3.8L, but should be exactly the same for you.

multi-purpose grease. A long ass extension will really help getting the trans bolts out. At least it helped for me.

That's true. My second trans I removed was an auto with the transfer case out of an 09 F350..

At least I had a lift for mine and the truck..

If you read this, an easier way is to worry about to connectors AFTER you have it unbolted. No since in snaking your hands around it.

I have the info I believe, but I'm not home now. If I get on tonight I'll post them up. Def. not just "tight enough", I'd spec them right.
