Terribly squeaky Clutch

I have a 1996 v6 mustang (and its my baby and its also quite awesome lol) But for some reason when the car is on the clutch squeaks horribly when im letting it out (sometimes when pushing in) and it feels like its grinding ... like its really rough pushing in and letting out, anyways i looked up and found out its a cable clutch (i was lookin for the clutch fluid reservoir) , and i have no idea what is causing the squeak and the roughness of pushing and releasing it.

Also i should note i guess i did grease the peddle its self to see if that was causing it and that didnt do a dang thing (figured it wouldnt but always try the cheapest thing first lol)

Anyways if anyone has any idea of whats causing it and how i should go about correcting it that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance.

Whats your mileage. I would suggest you replace you clutch and pressure plate along with the throwout bearing while you have the trans out anyways.

Stock clutch still? Sounds like more than the TOB, to me itd be about time for a clutch replacement, which would include the TOB and other related parts.

Just do a clutch set. (tob, pressure plate, resurface or get new flywheel, clutch disc, and input shaft bearing) Search google for a site or the sponsors here for a clutch set--

AmericanMuscle, LateModelRestoration, StangMods, etc should all carry clutch kits for V6s. But do yourself a favor and get an OEM Ford throwout bearing. There are tons of horror stories about aftermarket throwout bearings going bad after 100 miles.

Yeah, GT or Cobra will NOT fit. Make sure its not only for a v6, but your specific model year as well. SPEC Stage I is a good clutch, but as said, get a Ford HD TOB.

I just put in the RAM HDX and Spec Steel Flywheel with a Ford Racing Heavy Duty TOB and Pilot Bearing. Plus a new Quadrant and Adjustable cable. I like it.

Ford Racing : Performance Parts - Ford Mustang - Cobra - Dodge Viper - Chevy Corvette - C6 - LS1
RAM HDX Clutch (94-04 V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
SPEC Billet Steel Flywheel (94-04 Mustang V6) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
Mustang Clutch Adjuster Kit (96-04) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!
The Fire wall adjuster is not needed if you go with the adjustable cable.

Everything for man ran about 600 including a new clutch cover/dust boot.

I would also suggest replacing your rear main seal while you have everything off.

Hey Red, is this the TOB you used? Ford Racing Performance Mustang Throwout Bearing (79-04 V8) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

I know it says V8's only, but I know a number of the years listed used the same tranny as us.

I don't need a new clutch, mine is just a year old. But this question has been bugging me for a while lol

Nope. I have both of those bearings in right now. I have put about 1500 miles on it and I haven't heard a bit of noise from any of the stuff. The RAM bearing had a fat 'made in china' sticker on it and it made noise right out of the box..

Wow that's ridiculous. My whole clutch kit came from a Ford dealership. I've put around 6,000 miles on it and it hasn't made a sound. Good ol' Ford
