Curb rash on my black clear coated Shelby GT500 wheels :(
I'm sure there is someone out there who has black clear coated wheels and have somewhere down the road, grinded them against a curb or something other that caused them to be scratched. Unfortunately this happen to me the other day. This guy made a wide turn, and when I had to compensate for this idiot making this wide turn, I thought I heard a slight grinding sound, ...oh so slight. I was wondering if I just scratched my wheel, and hoping I didn't just scratch a $250.00 wheel. Got home, and as I was cleaning the salt off my wheels, there it was.
![]() Here's a picture of the damage: Image - TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting It's hard to see, and to some, it might not be nothing. I can't explain it, but little scratches and dent's bother me to no end, I'm sure there are some of you out there like me. I have to have my car in perfect condition, and when something happens to it, I get it fixed. Honestly, once I have some extra money, I will probably go out and buy a completely new rim. But for now I just want to know what is the best way to fix or cover up this scratch. Some say, just use a sharpie. What would/have you all done in this situation? Thanks for any help. I know it's not a big deal, just want to make it a clean fix, it that makes sense.

I did that to one of my gloss black 2010 GT Premiums. I was in a McDonald's drive-thru and got a little too close to the damn curb. I haven't fixed mine yet, but I've got a small can of gloss black interior/exterior enamel that I'm going to use. I'm just going to tape off around the scraped up area, sand it down a bit, clean it up, hit it with some adhesion promoter, and brush it on. I know it's not going to look perfect, but my car is no show car and I just want the bright white scrape gone
![]() If that doesn't work out very well, I'll sand it back down and hit it with some gloss black Krylon (rattle can) and clear coat. But for now, I'm not going to go spend money if I can make what I have work. Edit: I also had my wheels standing up against my garage wall while I was putting my Bullitts back on for the winter and one fell over. It's got some nicks in the paint so I suppose I'm going to be doing the same thing on that wheel as well. All I can say is I'm happy they're not chrome is it would be a far more expensive fix.

Ahh, man I feel you. The white scrape on these black wheels almost draws all attention away from the actual car. I had a buddy of mine who hasn't seen my car since I got it when it was just a stock V6, you know, the first thing he said when he approached my car was..."Man, did you get to close to a curb, that's a nice scratch on those wheels"............ -_- sucks. Yeah, I don't want to spend money either, I just don't want to make them worse. Let me know how your approach works though, I would like to know how it comes out, if you don't mind, then I'll give it a go.

My painting projects are piling up now lol. So far I've got: -Touch up wheels -Attempt to make body panels presentable -Paint interior panels -Paint spoiler satin black -Paint my Termi front bumper (if I feel up to that) And for shits and giggles I'm going to try to restore an old side scoop. It's got some deep gouges that I'm going to sand down the shit dangling off and bondo then repaint. The kid that owned the car before me must have had someone back into the rear quarter panel because there's a dent that needs fixed too. My gf's sister's bf got me black scoop for free (off of a wrecked 00 GT) so I repainted that. Before: ![]() After: ![]() Need to pull that off the car and put some more clear coat on but the Krylon gloss white is a damn close match to my car
