Springs won't fit

Ok, well I am going to install my LS6 valve springs on my car since I am putting in a cam. They won't fit over the valve seal. There is a little bevel on the bottom and the springs won't fit. I didn't know if I have the wrong springs, but the springs I ordered are supposed to be .885 inch inside diamter on the bottom that is the same as the ones that comp cam's sells. I am going to double check and measure to see if I didn't get the wrong ones from summit. I am just double checking should a .885 inside diameter spring fit over my valve seal? it is almost like there is a bevel in the guide itself too. I might be looking at it weird but we will see.

So wow, fricken summit is retarded! I measured the springs they are 1.250 outside diameter and .840 inside. The ones that I purchased on there site and according to the part number I have on the box are supposed to be 1.290 outside and .885 inside. But they have horrible customer service so I guess the stang is going to be down for awhile until they figure out what they are doing. I am just going to keep calling them. I hope I drive them insane. I have called twice so we will see.

Lol. IDK why I didn't think of this...

Your PRs are probably bent because they are not meant for that spring rate. Ford would only make them strong enough to handle factory stuff.

You might need to go with hardened rods..

I always had a good experience with Summit customer service. Hope you can get the right springs quickly.

Well I finally think I got it squared away after on hour on the phone with the tech guy. He kept saying .40" shouldn't matter since they will fit over the LS guide. I kept telling him it is not for an LS motor. And he kept on and kept saying the spring rate is what matters so finally I blew up on the phone and told him I don't fricken care if the spring rate is fine they are not the springs listed because they are smaller and if you cant ship them out to me then I want a full refund of my money plus shipping. So they were supposed to measure the springs before they sent out a new set. They were shipped Tuesday so they should be here this weekend. So I should be able to do my car this next week in school.

Hmm... On the pushrod. I would not think that you would need hardened ones for those springs. Maybe you tightened down the rocker too fast and didn't let the lifter bleed down or tightened it down and you didn't have the cylinder on TDC compression. These are all things that can happen, I accidently did that once in school and bent a push rod.

Does anyone else think that you need to upgrade pushrods with the LS 6 springs?

Oh and I see how the GT retainers work. I measured them at first and then tested the spring tension and was like whoa it was like 125 or 135lbs on the seat. But then I measure the installed height of the GT retainer and due to how it is set up compared to the stock one it does work and I was right around 90-100 lbs on the seat which is where they should be. I also have brand new keepers just figured it wouldn't hurt and they were like .13 a piece.

I just need to order my tune now and wait for my cam to come in I can't wait. I should get my springs and retainers in next week, then over spring break I am doing my cam!!!!!!!
