Excessive Screeching/squeaking from under hood

Some screeching and squealing have just start from under my hood yesterday.. I wanna say it's the serpentine belt but I'm not positive however idk what else it could be.. It happens more so when coming to a stop and at launch from a dead stop however does squeal sometimes while driving as well.. Any suggestions? And if so what should I do to correct this issue? I'm thinking belt conditioner/dressing..

This is on the engine it seems.

The main suspects here are most likely the water pump pulley and the cam synchronizer if the noise is coming from the top center of the engine. If you haven't replaced the belt in a while I'd try that first. You can also start the car and run it for a short time without the belt on to see if the noise persists. This eliminates the pulleys as suspects. Don't run the car for long without a belt.

IF the noise continues after trying those things then I'd say cam synchro. About a $50 part you should be able to install yourself if you have some mechanical knowledge and common sense. If the noise is mostly when the car is either at cold start up or after running for an extended time (real cold or real hot) then its most likely the synchro.

Suspension noises would be more noticeable when turning or going over bumps, it doesnt seem like thats the case here.

If it's the clutch (TOB), the noise would stop when putting slight pressure on the clutch pedal...and I don't even know if OP drives a manual.

Pull the belt and start the engine. If the noise has ceased, it's more than likely a bad tensioner pulley bearing or a bad idler pulley bearing. Feel for any play in either of them. Another trick is to spray a small amount of WD40 into the pulley bearing with the engine running (and the belt reinstalled). If the noise suddenly ceases, you've found the culprit. Just be careful around the moving belt, and do not get any WD40 on the belt or pulley belt surfaces.

Thank you Tang Stang and Goren for sensible responses.. I believe that its one of the pulleys as well. It sounds like its coming from right in that area its just hard to try and narrow down exactly what it is.. im going to try what you both said when I get a free moment and let ya know what happens. As far as it being the clutch, the noise persists when I press the clutch in and there is only 30k miles on it. I have switched out a TOB before and dont think its that.. its a more high paced higher pitch squeak/squeal..and its def not the suspension but thanks for the suggestions. It is mainly on cold start up that it occurs most often however it kind of comes and goes sporadically..

If it sounds like a bird chirping at random times then its the cam synchronizer. The belt usually makes a high pitch noise. I say its the cam synchronizer tho.

Could be the ac pulley. Splash some water o. The belt while it's running. If the noise stops than it's just the belt. Does it look like you have oil slung up on you hood and on you inner fender on the pass side?

Initially i woulda said throw out bearing because my car does what you described nd ppl say its the throw out bearing... but it only happens when engaging the clutch in first gear. Its an occasional thing. but i guess thats not it for you...

also my idler pulley made a bird chirping noise, though it was syncronized with engine rpm
