Car Died

Alright here's a strange one guys,
I was sitting in the turn lane into my school this morning and here's what happened.
Car started up fine and ran great all the way untill the turn lane,
as I was waiting to turn, my head unit lost power, flicked on a couple times then stayed off,
then all the guages all went down to the zero position, but the car was still ideling fine,
then a little bit later the engine started sputtering and eventually to despite my best efforts, stalled to never restart.
Another strange thing I noticed was that the 4-way flashers woulden't flash if the ignition was in the 'on' position.
So I called my dad to come pull me out of the turnlane, after pissing off almost everyone in school.
So here I sit, in school, with no car, racking my brain trying to figure it out.
Its getting roll-backed to my buddies shop as i type so yeah. I'd still like to solve the mystery.
Any ideas? Cause I'm about lost on this one.

Sounds like something electrical. Check alternator and start checking for shorts anywhere.

Yeah I figured it had to be something electrical or alternator. Last time I voltmetered the battery while it was running it was a solid 13.9 and that was like a week ago. Just a strange turn of events that is puzzeling to me

it IS your alternator, the same exact thing happened to me.. the car physically can't run without the alternator.. the battery will just die in 10 seconds. Luckily its an easy fix, Check Autozone or something, you can get one for under $100 bucks

Yup ya'll were exactly right, alternator. Got it towed to the shop, they told us it was the alternator, they fixed it, we get free labour because my family has been using the same shop for over 20 years, and now it runs great! Thanks guys I was kinda in a panic there a little bit but yall are the best.

Good thing it was free, our alternators are very easy to remove, I did mine on the side of the highway lol
