CAI would be easy to paint and add a nice touch to the engine bay. My plate thing that holds the tube and filter in the fender is rusting so I'm going to pull the whole CAI off this spring and paint it satin black, which is something I've been meaning to do for almost a year.
I believe the Windstar install guide from VAP includes removal of the stock upper intake and it's available on their website. If not, a Hayne's manual should cover it. If you're worried about the visible bolts, just tape off the threads and paint the top of the bolts. They might get a little scratched when you reinstall the upper intake, but if you're brushing on the paint then it shouldn't be difficult to touch them up once the upper intake is back on the engine.

How long does it take to do the upper intake... Removing, cleaning, painting, time to dry... Re-installing...
Like half a day? This baby is my daily driver...

well i let the paint dry overnight. but ya conservatively maybe an hour tops to get it off and an hour to get it on. (could be as quick as like 15 mins.) then cleaning. idk 1 to 3 hours depending on how thorough your being. painting, drying overnight then put it back on. it could just be a night over the weekend.
