call and check about long tube headers with your dmv or emissions tester then. long tubes may fail a visual inspection...

well, in CA, long tubes fail a visual. so i would just check to be safe. when it is all said and done, you should have a respectable 6cyl man

I asked one of my friends today and his uncle has a 2001 Steeda Mustang GT
and it has long tubes, h-pipe, and high flow cats and all are MAC and it passed inspection. My friend took me for a ride in it once that thing is crazy fast. did i mention it is supercharged.

i bet that steeda sounded pretty badass huh? your car wont sound as great as a v8 with l/t's and a cat back, but it will sound like a v8 with a cat back for the low rpms

For the $$$ you're gonna throw at the 7.5, go ahead and get an 8.8. The price of the diff is more than the cost of a used 8.8 which already will have a limited slip diff in it. a good rebuild kit and a gear and you've spent the same amount of money on something you won't be breaking anytime soon.

only one prob its hard to find a good used 8.8 anyone is willing to get rid of. i might just end up buying a new one from yearone or ford racing

edit: I found a rear end here but it says it uses drum brakes and doesnt come with axles pretty expensive but yearone is higher for same thing

so i guess im going to be ok since i have an auto and have no plans for slicks,, besides i cant' find any used 8.8s anywhere except this guy my dad knows who owns a junkyard., but my dad doesnt want me buying all of this stuff for my car. he gave me a speech about how im going to get killed doing stuff to my car, I had to explain to him it wasnt going to be any faster than a gt but he still is oppossed to me geting my car built up. I plan on being my own man after college anyway so its my choice :sleep

1: Your dad is a good man, and when you have a son, you will understand why your dad is the way he is. He wants to ensure your safety, both physically and economically, which is a responsible and commendable action.

2: A complete bolt on V6 (and in your case- a cam as well) with a built rear and 4.10:1s is as fast as a 99-04 stock gt.

My dad sat me down for conversations about my endeavors before, but I respect his opinion and have tried to become more fiscally responsible due to his encouragement. He did the same thing as me when he was my age, and I want to have fun with cars as I am young, but I do have future plans that require some fiscal ecnomic responsibility on my part.

I do realize my dad is just trying to take care of me and i respect him for that, but a boy and his car are Inseparable.

I would have to agree with AB on this issue as I have 3 kids of my own, 1 daughter and 2 sons. I try my best to raise all 3 of my children in the way they should go, both morally and fiscally. My children see what I do to my car, but they also know that the family needs come first and when they become old enough to drive a car, I, too, will limit them on modifications to their vehicles, whatever they may drive to the amount of how much they make minus necessary expenditures i.e. insurance, fuel, maintenance/repair costs and while saving some for savings as I have learned a little later in life than I should have and I want my children to learn earlier on than I did. To some extent, a boy and his car are inseperable, but family is stronger and far more inseperable than any attatchment to a car or other material thing and above all, the safety of all my family members is paramount.

Exactly, the only reason I could go as far with my car by 17 years old as I did was because I've had 2 jobs working 30 hours a week making straight A's and my car has been an outlet for me being that I pay for everything. After needing intake manifold work and a new transmission, fiscal responsibility takes a front seat to car modding at my age, and I have my family to thank for that

My family and other financial obligations will always come before my car. A boy and his car may be inseparable, but a childs family should be his strength, his motivation, what to lean on when needed. A car can only do so much, but what a good family can do is amazing. I love doing stuff to my car, but I have too many obligations right now to really focus on anything about my car besides to keep it running at its best that I can get it running when I have the spare time. I'm goin through a really tough time and I have just turned 18. I have to go to court today for a ticket that I was charged wrongly for, prom, mothers day just passed, insurance, gas, upkeep of the car, and other things. So right now my car is second on priority list of financial obligations, and it will always be third in my heart. I say do what you want to your car, but really spread the mods out. Improvise on your plan. Make a little timeframe for each thing that you want to do. Put those items in order of what is best for your car, make a back up plan for if anything goes wrong. Just make your plan the best plan you can make it, but put family, and other obligations first. Loving the car is one thing, but working on the car is totally different.

I love my family very much and wouldnt do anything to go against my father, but the thing is i plan on doing all of this after college and by then I will be about 20 and have my own place near my parents just like my older brother does now. I also pay for the stuff for my car and it also helps that it is payed off :award my brother is currently 21 and has a 68 mustang with a 289 engine with 302 heads on it and we have done plenty of stuff to it, his first car was a mustang gt and my first car was a 4cyl Ford Ranger. I guess sibling rivalry can play in to this aswell though and i have never owned a v8, my brother on the other hand has owned at least 4.

Your priorities may change with time. If you didnt buy the car 100% on your own (most kids dont), then just follow the rules set forth by your parents. I paid $1300 of my car since my budget was $4000 and my car was $5300 when I got it. That plus insurance, gas, mods, and lenient parents resulted in where I am now- a net worth of $1000 at 17 and learning fiscal responsibility. I am not modding my car at all anymore since I am at my goal of running with the stock New Edge GT Mustangs. I am at the point now where I want to start saving about 30% of my income or more if possible.

A guy I go to school with recomended me getting shorty headers instead of long tubes. then i told him i was getting a full exhuast anyway so i dont have to worry about my stock exhaust mounting up exactly. The mac h-pipe im getting is made just for the long tubes and able to have a gt catback put on it., but he still thinks i should get shortys

No.

MAC makes an H pipe for long tube and short tube headers. Why buy short tubes if you are getting a new midpipe and cat back? The long tubes are appx. the same price as short tubes but get you double or more the horsepower as short tubes- and more on modified engines...
