Question

Possible Cam problems HELP?!?!?

So my car has been driving fine since i got the cam in and tuned and all. And it has been about 3 weeks to a month running good and all. But recentley the check engine light came on and when i put in my chip to read the code it just said cylinder missfire in first 1000 revs, and the mechanic I took it to said that it was not just one of the cylinders missfiring so it couldn't be the spark plugs or wires that was wrong with it. And i have contunied to drive it for about three days now and last night there was this loud clicking noise coming from under the hood but only when I was in drive not in park. And as i sped up the thumping/vibrating increased and I was too scared to go over 45mph on the highway, it was that bad! Anyways im taking it back up to Houston Performance Monday so hopefully they will fix it. But my question is do any of yall have any idea what that could be?? And if so do you think it is a real serious problem or not??

1.) mustang mike
2.) you

But in all seriousness , check the simple stuff first. I think mike had that same code. I think its an install issue personally.

PS:
two places I've always been told not to go in houston were strictly and houston performance, not sure why but i've been given a long lecture several times on both.

Im gonna try and get my step dad to tow my shit back up to houston performance tommorow to see if they can figure out what's wrong with it.. and my oil is fine and i had my spark plugs replaced when i got the gears put in about 3 months ago so they should be fine.. Im gonna change the timing belt probably cause mine is kind of cracked. And my motor seems to be shaking pretty damn hard just at idle so maybe i knocked something loose in there or something, cause ALL the noise started right after i went over this violent ass speed bump.. but im gonna fix whatever it is quick cause i dont really have a choice i need my car...but when i figure out what it is ill let yall know! Thanks for the advice, im praying it's nothing too serious

SOMETHING IS VERY WRONG IF YOU HAVE A TIMING BELT, that would be your problem.

During my cam install I did not come across one of these timing belts you speak of? Perhaps Chris Torres did a motor swap for ya?

Edit: Im sure you meant serpentine belt though.

To answer Q above me, I swapped with a catback exhuast and it was very bogged down due to restricted flow and incorrect tune ...

But it did idle much harder !!! Potential for an awesome fucking sound was there ... just not the right exhuast

Oh and you can add me to the list of having trouble with a cam, ESG =P haha remember mine? and we never really found out what the exact problem was. All I know is when I took it out, the car ran perfect again. And it could not be tuned with it. I might try again though, a stock v6 sounds like shit.

always seemed like it had a miss and erratic running/starting. We couldn't get the AFR to be steady at all and always had bank-to-bank issues. One would always be pegged lean and the other pegged rich. Took it out and all problems went away. And we did troubleshooting for everything possible, other than the timing mark being off on the cam or some grind error, whatever the odds of that are. It would even make decent numbers sometimes, but always broke up up top and had erratic misses.

And it was a comp cam 212/218 110 lsa .545 lift
