Upgrade Rear Gears?

OK, so I am going to upgrade my rear end gears from 3:27 to 3:73. Where can I get the best deals on all the stuff I need to do this? Running original 3.8 V6, auto transmission and its a 7.5" also. I know its all small but working on making a little faster with some help. Thanks

Gear an pinion
Rebuild Kit
Posi traction (what type also ie trac loc, spool, etc)
and anything else I migt need

The local drive train "pro" shop has everything listed for about $1000 with an extra $600 if they do the work. Keep in mind I am in Alaska and don't have alot of options here. So "online" recommendations are preferred. Thanks again.

You can get the ring and pinion gears plus the rebuild/install kit and gear oil from Latemodelrestoration.com for a pretty good price. Might as well pick up a 7.5" trac-lok from them as well since the shipping should be combined. You'll also need friction modifier (which may be included in the LMR kit, but I'm not sure since I got all my stuff from AmericanMuscle). And of course you'll need a tuner to recalibrate your speedo and tach (I recommend the SCT SF3 or X3).

Depends on what his future plans are with the car and whether it's a manual or auto. 3.73s would be good for a manual or turbo. 4.10s would be good for an auto or supercharger. I've got a manual with 4.10s. They're fucking awesome but I have to shift a lot when traffic is heavy.

You'll be fine with 4.10s. Couple that with a tlok and tune, then your car should feel much better

It all depends on how hard you plan on beating on your rear end. If your car is you DD and doesn't see much track time, Motive/Ford Racing gears and a Ford Racing t-lok will work just fine. I have Motive gears with an FR t-lok, I'm kind of rough on my car, and I don't have any issues with them. And just to note, Motive makes a lot of gears for Ford.

AM and LMR are both great companies. I've dealt with both of them and don't have a single negative thing to say about either. I had a problem with a Stack Racing wheel that I bought from AM. They sent me a brand new wheel with a brand new tire already mounted. It arrived at my door before I sent the bad one back, and they paid for shipping for me to get the wheel back to them. The problem with the wheel wasn't AM's fault (holes for the lug nuts were too small, manufacturer's fault), but they dealt with it like they had made the mistake. AM also sponsor's this forum.
