All you "lumpy" cam guys what you think?
Hey I am curious to what you guys with the "lumpy" cam from ssms think of your cam? I emailed my tuner and he said I might want to do some research. He said it is going to idle very rough and he may have to turn the idle up to 850-950 rpms. I just want your guys honest opinions on the cam and how you like it and how it is for DD? Thanks.

well ... for the week I drove mine ...
It did idle down to 550-600rpm and was pretty low, and sometimes would die when I come to a stop. That happen maybe 3 times ??? No biggie. But in park it idled at 800 and still sounded good. Who is your tuner ? But it drove good while it did ... Definately want a tune, dyno tune it asap too. Make sure you've got all your mods though. Including exhuast. |

No I knew that it was going to idle rough I was just double checking. My tuner was almost trying to talk me out of it. I told him I knew it was going to idle rough because that is what it is labled as and a lot of people in the v6 community are running it because it is a good cam and makes good numbers.
I am planning on getting a tune when I get it that is why I was talking to my tuner.

Tell him is a PR engine ... remind him that PR engines have cams like that, that idle rough for a reason ...

I think he was just giving me a fair warning. He doesn't know that I have done research instead of just going and picking the cam for any reason. He was just double checking to make sure I understood I think. I just wanted to see what you guys think as far as for DD. But it sounds like you guys don't have a problem and oh well if it idle's like crap that is what makes it sound sexy

Its alright.. Mine idles at 650.. It died once
I got the one from comp but it's same specs

Comp doesn't have a lumpy spec'd cam from what I remember... I mean they can make you one but its not one of the ones they offer.

im pretty sure the lumpy cam is a ssx creation and comp makes it exclusively for them. There are ones that are speced simmilar on comps site but IIRC they dont have the exact same one.
** I could be wrong though, thats just what i remember. |
