Mustang GT Rear Bumper Cover

I have a chance to pick this up, I've been looking for a matching gt bumper cover forever before I get my exhaust done and I think I may have finally found it, this is the only picture he sent me but supposedly its in great shape, what do you all think?

Maybe it's just the way it's sitting on the pavement... It's very flimsy when it's not mounted... I had to transport mine in my car... From the trunk, stickin out a little bit through the window... But then again it wasn't painted...

When I first glanced at it I thought it was a bent V6 bumper until I looked closely and could see a little bit of the cutout.

Ask for more pics. I would be nervous agreeing to buy a bumper if the pic showed something like that.

I had an offer for a white one locally, but paint is too much for me to handle currently.

The guy claims it is in great shape, I'm going to check it out later today, the paint looks good, but it does look bent like some of you said, but could also just be a bad/weird picture. and yeah you can barely tell it has the cutouts with this picture.

and torch how hard was it to transport it within your car? cuz i'd rather do that but idk if itll fit because I've got a sub that consumes my trunk

If you have a big sub you probably won't be fitting it. I fit a whole mac catless h pipe in my car all in one piece with the seats folded down. Folding the seats gives a lot more room.

DON'T PUT IT IN YOUR CAR! lol I don't recommend it... I had to kinda twist and bend it a little bit to make it fit. The paint on it was already messed up and I had to repaint it anyway... If "your" bumper is already painted the same color as your car and is in pristine condition, there's a chance you might mess it all up by stuffing it in your Mustang...

Just go there with no rear bumper.. If you decide to buy then bolt it on?

I think he could fit it in there without any problems. Roll down the passenger window, put the passenger seat forward, lay down the back seats, angle the bumper in and towards the trunk. It will probably rest inside the trunk and on the passenger seat. Our cars are tricky when it comes to moving big stuff. I found out a rear window louver in a box won't fit in our cars at all lol

The trick is to lay down lots of soft towels I have transported my cobra decklid, a 8.8 rear end, my gt bumper that I bought already painted. All those were in the trunk and back seats. I had a gt decklid (trunk) in there at the same time as the 8.8 (with rotors and calipers) for an 3 hour drive. This was without taking the passenger seat out. If you remove the passenger seat (5 minute job) you can take a lot more.

The bumper will fit, no problem... It's just that he'd be risking messing up the paint because depending on how old the bumper is, plus the condition of it's paint, it could crack. Best bet is to just bring a truck or something big to transport it.

Should you decide to put the bumper on right away when you pick it up... Make sure you have 11mm DEEP socket and a screw driver... There'd be plastic push pins holding the bumper at the bottom as well...

Check the number of bolts too... My stock bumper only had 3 bolts across the whole bumper... The GT bumper that I got had 6. I had to cut 3 of them off to fit it...

So with my bumper... I had 7 bolts total... 2 on the right, 3 across, 2 on the left. 2 screws on each fenders, and I think 6 platic push pins at the bottom. It took me about an hour to swap the bumpers... Better to have another person help you out to avoid scratching your paint...

If possible I would take his ^^ advise and find a truck to transport it. Sure it will fit in the back of your Stang but if your buying this because it's the right color I don't think it would be worth the risk of damaging it.

If I didn't have to drive 2 hours to get mine I would have borrowed someones truck (I did not have one at the time)

If it's factory paint it should not crack as it has a flex modifier mixed in to prevent cracking.

Man, I'm really excited for this guy! I just love the noticeable visual upgrade of the GT bumper on a V6. I remember when I got mine, I couldn't sleep that night just thinking about it! Lol
