Differential S-Spring Trouble

Im rebuilding an 8.8 rear end I purchased, and im having alot of trouble trying to get the s-spring back into the differential.

I tried the method listed on this website: CPA5OHtech - Page: 19 of 27

I dont know if I should remove the ring gear and try installing the s-spring then? Its holding up finishing up this winter project.

Do you have the right shims on the side gears? They new spring is very stiff. I would either A) hammer it in with a soft face (ford says too) or B) put hose clamps on it and tighten it and cut them off when you get it in there. (fellow mmer's idea)

I have the right shims on the side gears they measure .668 and .667 which is within good specs. Im gunna try the hose clamps and maybe get some c-clamps too tommorow, it is very hard with the ring gear in the way as well. Im sure EVERYBODY that has rebuilt thier rear end has ran into the same problem..

I've used the hose clamp method in the past. It's just a royal PIA to get it in there. That's all there is to it.

Im an auto. And im trying another method too. Im sandwiching the S-spring inbetween two thin steel bars and clamping the end together so I get channel the S-spring into the differential using a hammer and maybe a punch if I need it.
