Yes. It's off a 94-98 gt. Just a hair narrower than my stocker.

No, 4.10s work with a 7.5" as does a 3.73
no worries

Ok, so there's no such thing as a 3.73 or 4.10 SPECIFICALLY for a 7.5 or 8.8?
Lets say 4.10.... They'd fit either 7.5 or 8.8? Is that how it goes? Damn I feel dumb...

Nope. They make 3.73 and 4.10 so you can up it to a common size at the very least, but anything g else you need after market. Cept for 3.55 as stock gears.

Anybody who sees the thread's title will be confused if they click on the last page and starts reading all about gears!

....'cause I was looking on CL and saw ads that says 4.10 gears for an 8.8.... That's why I'm all confused...

I thought gears had to be specifically for your rear end size? I'm like 90% sure on that.

I'm pretty sure they are wider if I'm correct? That's why they are for the 8.8" on the GT.
So you're looking for gears that will fit your stock rear end. Don't quote me on the 4.10s for an 8.8 is different. That's just what I was told because I didn't buy 3.73s from a guy that were $50 because someone told me they wouldn't work with my rear end. I'd get new gears too, used could be worn.. lol Our boards are usually off topic title topic, but I always think of the forums as more of an open chat board with topic starters

Yeah. The gear rings are made specifically for the rear end size. I really want some gears but I refuse to put them in a 7.5

Ok, so would a v6 auto with 4.10s have better acceleration than a GT auto with stock gears? ....considering the rear end size difference of course...

....because I really would rather keep the 7.5... I don't really have the hunger for an 8.8 if I could get a pretty good performance with the 4.10s...

One reason I want an 8.8 is buying gears, a tlok, and install gets pricey.

I wonder this too, but I think with those gears your just getting all your torque faster, a GT still has more torque, so better acceleration.
