UD Pulleys

I saw a 3.8 V6 Modification article and I saw UD pulleys on there. I went lurking and found a Motoblue kit that includes SCT sf3 tuner, new belt, and the UD pulley for 599.99 with free shipping. I also saw a UD pulley that Steeda had for $209.99. I heard Motoblue had a bad reputation so what are your opinions, and are they worth it?

I saw it's 8hp gain for around $200, with the Windstar and a tuner that around 30hp. But also $1000. It's also +1-3mpgs. Bit pricey though. I thought about it too because one of my pulleys is making a faint noise. It's probably the idler pulley though.

Think of it this way ...

When you want power, your gonna turn off your A/C. Your drag racing, your not using that power steering, your alternator is very strong, it doesnt require much to keep that battery charged. So your really not freeing up that much. Now you might notice with the AC on :p

But I do have one, cant say it changed much cause of the other mods I had done lol but I had to replace mine and wasnt paying 114 for a new stock piece lol

Honestly I didn't really notice a difference. I guess a before and after dunk could tell though. But I got the pulleys for 20 bucks so no big deal.

I saw on VMP it was dyno proven on their 25% to give 8-12hp. But I guess that's hard to feel. Then again, we all have 5spds right? I saw the UD pulley mod under the Manual Transmission mod list.

Don't feel too bad, at least it's not annoying to drive on single digit days. OH, and they are drag cars. Drove my car today though and had a blast with the nice weather. I'm sure you can still do the UD pulley mod.

I heard they free up power though out the entire power band, a typical counter to gears too which decrease efficiency.

IDK, personally, I'd choose a manual over auto.

It's just that when I was at the dealership, 8 yrs ago, they didn't have stick V6s at all... just GTs... My dumbass was thinking more of price and mileage-wise so I set my mind on getting a sixxer! (hell, better than a 4 cylinder corolla that I had prior to) I wanted to go home with a Mustang so bad so I got the D3 auto V6.... *sniff *sniff

So anyway..... I'm glad somebody brought this topic up... I'm really not the" engine expert" type... I've been wanting to get UDs but wasn't sure if it's worth it, plus I haven't found a good yet cheap kind... (more affordable than the usual $200+ price range...)

So UDs + Gears would be a good combo you mean?

im sure they help a little through out, but why not do an intake spacer from VAP ... same gains, best for low end but very little for up top... and much much cheaper ...

imo UDP's are a ... well im about to get a dyno tune, might as well get these now ... If your gonna spend that kind of money, either need one, or buy something a little more usefull. Windstar would be great idea.
