cold air intake

I'm new to modifications and want to start working on my 98 v6, but don't know where to start. The guy I bought my car from says that the K&N air filter on it is pretty much like having a cold air intake on the car and was wondering if that is true or if I need to replace it.

I just installed a CAI on my 99 v6, let me just tell you...you get what you pay for. I bought a cheap CAI off of eBay and I got some low quality shit lol. I painted it flat black (came in chrome finish), so at least it looks good lol...No performance gain whatsoever(as expected)...

I have a MAC CAI, it looks almost exactly like the AM one (I believe)... Compared to the stock box, I would say it does run different with it on... Not a whole lotta difference... When I went to get a smog test last year... I put the stock intake back on... I just had to re-install the CAI right after! Lol

everything was installed correctly. Its not the first time that I install an intake. Poor fitment on the parts that I received. The hardware didnt fit (had to buy smaller nuts and bolts). I cleaned the MAF sensor and it feels the same way. Only other thing could be for me to replace the MAF..

i don't understand what isn't fitting correctly? if you have a leak make a gasket...if it's where the tube connects to the intake then go to Advance and buy a new grommet

Our cars don't respond well to CAIs so don't expect any noticeable performance gains even when you do get it running well. You're better off putting up the money for a Windstar swap if you want gains. Otherwise a CAI just makes the engine bay look a little nicer (although the Windstar does an even better job).
