98 Wont go boom.

Hey.

My 98, when i go to start it, will turn over the engine for thirty seconds, with not ignites at all. When I put it just to 'On', I can hear a click + squeel (fuel pump, i think) I haven't actually pulled out any lines to test to see if the pump is actually squirting, or tested spark plugs.

Any ideas that might prevent it from popping?

[I know i don't know the most about cars or functioning, but thats why i'm here and not the ford dealership. You may have to be patient with me.. Thanks in advance.]

Have you done any mods? Have you check you inertia switch? (in the trunk next to the driver tail light.)

Anything odd happen right before this?

FYI; trying to crank it for more than 15 seconds can overheat you starter.

Haha.. Wow.. I just got it. i feel dumb.

I was looking into the alarm system, as it trips 30secs after arming. I peeked in the trunk, looking at the 6/7 plug that houses the trunk latch sensor. I pulled it out to run a multimeter to test some leads, and apparently forgot to plug it back in.. (sshhhhh!!)

And with cranking the engine, my dad worked on it while I was at school. He said he could crank it for 30 seconds, no pops. (I blame him xD )

thanks for the idea.

Not positive, but I doubt it. It is my second one. The first one died in a junkyard testing tailight bulb fittings.
