Squeaking noise when idling
My mustang is making an odd squeaking noise after I've been idling for about 2-3 minutes. I have to turn the music completely off to hear it and it's fairly faint. The best way I can describe it is that it sounds like a dying bird. This happened last winter too and it seemed to go away when the weather warmed up. Does anyone have any idea what this is?

coming from the engine compartment I take it right? If so, Id check the wear and tear on the belt or anything that spins.

It could be the belt or one of the pulleys.
I know my alternator pulley makes a squeaking sound at idle since the bearing is going out. You can remove the belt and spin each accessory by hand to see if you can get one to squeak.

The belt looks fine. I'll have to check all the pulleys. It only makes it on occasion though, and only when it's pretty cold.

check to see if one of the pipes hangers got lose. Cause a few weeks ago, a hanger losened and the pipe rubbed against the frame of the car, causing a high pitch squealing noise.
