Really considering a Tuner.

So it's been a while since I have done any mods to my car, and I was thinking that a tuner should be the next step. I was just wondering how much an improvement this would add to my car.

The list of mods I have are:
Dual Flowmaster Super 44's with H-pipe
BBK CAI
Steeda Short Throw Shifter

If I get a tuner, what kind of gains should I be expecting? Also, I have never ventured into the Tuner world, so what are some pros and cons i can expect from one, and should I do any other mods before getting a hand held tuner?

As of right now you could increase the timing to effectively run a higher octane fuel, make sure your computer is set for the correct tire revs/mile, remove/increase/decrease the speed limiter, change neutral and in-gear rev limiters, and have a tune written for your exhaust and CAI. As of right now the gains aren't going to be all that amazing (mostly since you're a manual - same as me -, but I hear the auto guys get a lot more out of changing shift firmness and shift points) but if you plan on modding more in the future then a tuner is a great thing to have. I got mine because my tach/speedo would have been way off when I had my 4.10 gears installed. It's also nice for checking CELs if you don't have an OBD-II reader already. Overall it's a good investment and you won't be disappointed. Also, I recommend going with an SCT tuner unless you plan on needing a dyno tune in the future (if so, check with whoever you plan on having do the tune and see what brand they use). I've got the SCT SF3 (which I believe is almost the same as the SCT X3) and I love it.

Oh and cons of a tuner? The $400 you have to spend on it. Otherwise there's no real down side of buying a tuner

Cool thanks man! As for future mods, I really plan on getting the Pro-charger. I got the cash, just debating on wether I want to spend that much on a kit lol.

That Procharger is going to require a tune so if you do get it, you're going to end up getting a tuner anyways

well i couldnt tell you that part cause i was too worried i was going to f**k it up that i took it to a local aftermarket shop that specializes in mustangs haha cause the procharger runs on the serpentine belt so you have to mount it to the block and have it aligned all perfect so you dont get belt wear

Well if you can find a SCT for a good price, I would say go for it. I need a tuner as well, its actually a necessity right now. But sadly American Muscle isn't selling tuners at the time?
