Negative effects of a bad battery?

So my car still has the original battery in it and after 10 years it's starting to go downhill fast. It doesn't crank as fast as normal and I get the full gauge sweep upon starting. Now I'll replace the battery soon enough but I'm more wondering are there any negative effects from running it how it is?

Like is my computer resetting each time I start the car? Would it put an extra strain on my alternator? Things like that.

As long as the connection to your battery is not broken then your computer is not resetting. The alternator just charges the battery. (in this aspect) You are not really going to hurt anything by using a weak battery. You will end up stranded one day when your car doesn't start when those cca's get low enough. You car doesn't even use the battery after you start the car except to keep the electrical loop. Unless you have a winch or something.

Well my winch does use quite a bit of battery....

I was just wondering if it'd be constantly trying to charge more than it should or something.
