The windstar intake is around 300 too without install isn't it? It also won't be anything special without gears and tlok. That, with labor, can be a hefty penny.
Flowmaster 40s don't sound bad without long tubes. We'll never get that V8 sound, but at least we're not driving around sounding like a Honda with a fartcan

The Windstar kit is $415 I believe. Overall the install doesn't look difficult. If he can read, handle a hacksaw and a wrench, then he should be able to install it himself and save some money. There's no better way to learn about a car than to get your hands dirty

And yeah, install on gears and tlok is a bit hefty. I believe I paid $350 for my install and I bought the tlok, gears, and install/bearing kit (would have done it myself, but it wasn't something I trusted myself with).

Don't forget to slap a tlok in there at the same time. 2 wheel burnouts, more traction, and you only pay for the install once

Words of wisdom. I just wish the previous owner of my car thought of this when they decided to replace nothing but the clutch at the 120k mark... Now I'm stuck doing all the dirty work. Always remember that if you can hit two birds with one stone, do it!

Considering a recommended upgrade to get some good HP gains is the windstar intake manifold this statement is far more true than any of us probably care to admit to

was reading comments above about t-lok for a v-6 of course, can anyone say (for those who have done it) how much they gained at the track from this mod alone due to increased traction?

my friend could keep about 2-3 tenths of a second faster then me on the 1/8th with his 8.8 rear (when i had my v6)...we both had intake & exhaust besides that...so that low to mid 16 second 1/4mile time would most likely be a more consistant low 16 second time
