Couple q's about takeoffs on the v6. (and i already used the search function)
Ok, a friend of mine with a 98 GT told me he was and x pipe with 44's next weekend and hed sell me his stock with thrush mufflers for $150. First of all, is that a good deal? Second, what would i need to install it? just 2 extra hangers? Where would i get them for cheap? And lastly, anyone else done this and willing to compare the sound of this to a fabbed dual exhaust? Im just curious. Thanks for any help.

well if that deal includes all the tubing for over the rear axle and the tips then yes...if its just the mid pipe and two mufflers then no
as for sound...a GT factory hpipe with thrushs will sound the same as a fabbed hpipe with thrushs as for install take it to a shop...you'll be happier with the results |

It does include all the tubing. And alright sounds good. Is it that hard to do the exhaust myself? I dont get a lot of chances to work on my car so i figured id do this but if the shop would do a much better job id take it in. How much would that run?

well the tubing won't fit your car...so that's why you'll have to take it to a shop...they'll have to custom fab the midpipe in then go from there with the mufflers and the tubing that goes over the rear axle...they'll also use their own hangers so you'll be set there.
if you're keeping cats due to emission use the cats already on your car..don't let them put your friends old ass cats on your car

Update! So my buddies plans changed and he ended up keeping the H-pipe, but he will sell me the rest of the exhaust for $80. the mufflers are the stockers and i would replace them with the thrush mufflers. so add that in and its now like 140. Since its a v6 and the h-pipe isnt needed, how much do you guys think it would cost to have them do divorced duals? They would only need to replace the y pipe right?

correct...they will cut the pipe just after the cats and then add in tubing if needed to fill in the gap between the cats and the mufflers
