Hey so lets be honest, a lot of us tint/smoke our tail lights. I was wondering what is the best tail light tint stuff to use that is purchaseable from an autoparts store..?

VHT Nite Shades (comes in a rattle can). And a can of clear coat if you want an extra shiney finish.

^That is what I used. I actually just did mine this weekend. It looks awesome...hopefully will have pictures up soon.
I did 4 light coats which got them pretty dark, but can still see them. Then I sprayed two coats of clear on them. I'm really pleased with the results. Try that!

It's what I used too. I did like 3 very light coats of VHT and 2 light coats of clear, no polishing or anything because I wanted them to sort of blend with my blackout panel. I think I might put a few more coats on this spring.

Take them out. You just need to remove the side carpet panels inside the trunk then there are 4 or 5 bolts holding the tail lights in place. Take them off carefully, unhook the bulbs and remember what order they go in, and tape off any areas of the tail lights you don't want painted. I believe there was a rubber seal I taped off on mine. Then I just set them up on jack stands (one on each stand) so I could get at from different angles, lightly sanded, then started painting.

just did mine this weekend and they look great. Wet sand with 2000 grit sandpaper, simple green, nite shade, light wet sand again, and polishing compound, looks pro

![]() Lol I'm never going to forget that Demon, your lights shouldn't have been that hard to get off. I think the previous owner did something to them

Come to MA and you will see lol. Fine if being a man translates to that then I was a man for putting what is essentially paint thinner right on my cars paint. Managing to only take off the overspray and keeping the cars paint perfectly fine.

holy sexiness, I am so going to buy a can of that when I go out next.. looks crazy.. Probly way cheaper than those inserts too!. Can you do it to your headlights as well? or will it block most of the light?

Anybody here man enough to do mine?!
![]() Is wet sanding really necessary? Does every coat project the same level of darkness? I've painted stuff before but lights.... I'm afraid one side might get darker than the other. Lol

I got impatient... Accidentally put my fingerprints all over... Total mess.
Well it's not too bad but not good enough for me. I'll give it a rest and redo it one of these days! Lol

That's exactly what my "Paul Walker's guide to a better car exterior" says! Page 45! No joke! Lol
