2 really annoying problems
My car bogs on accelerations sometimes, not sure why. I am thinking it could be, fuel filter, fuel pump, air filter, maf sensor, fuel injectors, spark plug gap. I don't get this issue if i put the car in park and then step on the throttle, only under a load while the car is in drive at certain speeds and at certain rpm's. because of this my cousin says he thinks that it could be some kind of transmission sensor? if it is the transmission sensor, where would it be located, how can i gain access to it what is it called, how much is a new one, and where can i buy it for minimal cost? btw i have an auto tranny. could anyone possibly eliminate the above possibilities based on what i have told you? is this damaging my car while i drive it? i need to drive to Virginia and i am in NYC, would it be safe to do it? i just want to figure out the practical way to trouble shoot this so i don't go buying things i thought i needed and really don't, rather just replace what is necessary to fix this issue.
another issue if anyone knows the answer to it. in order to put the car into reverse i have to place the shifter between park and reverse, not actually on reverse, for drive it have to put the shifter between neutral and drive. drive is 2nd, 2nd is first, and first is first, reverse is neutral, and neutral is neutral. i can still drive it fine, but this problem is kind of annoying, does anyone know how to fix this? if it helps, i first noticed this problem immediately after this dumb ass tow truck driver decided to tow my car from my front wheels instead of my rears while the car was in park. some stupid bitch in my apartment complex had it towed for being in her spot. it was there accidentally because my wife didn't know it was her spot, and she could have gone to the front desk and gave them my plate number, they would have called me and i would have moved it for her in less then 5 minutes. that bitch! ![]() thanks

When's the last time it had a tune up? I had a similar issue where it would feel like it was choking, especially at WOT. I cleaned the TB and had no issues afterwards. The thing was so dirty that at first I figured the "black" was that it was just too dark to see, man was I wrong... Anyways, I would first go about giving it a good tune up if it hasn't had one in a while (new serpentine belt, spark plugs, cleaning the MAF, IAC, TB, etc).
For your second problem, I can't say with yours but I saw this on my friends car and his center console was just shifted up a little bit. It looked normal but he complained about it constantly so I just shoved a piece of wood near the top part of it and everything lined up just fine (although it looked weird as hell). Not a recommended solution either, more of an example. |

The second problem I know for a fact check ur shifting cable or w/e it called....I had a 97 auto and in order for it to eiter go into drive or w/e I had to do wat u do put it half way between both...turns out the cable from ur shift console to ur tranny can be loose and I had to go to a ford dealship to get one auto zone didn't have it and once we took the cable off it was old and lose (giggity haha and with the new one...nota problem

well spark plugs were done 15 grand ago so it cant be that (maybe the gap it too far though?), serp belt is pretty new also, it has been a while since i have cleaned the maf, and tb, never cleaned the iac though so ill try it, but it doesn't really have much of an idling problem.

A bad gap could cause misfires and bad acceleration but it feels a lot different than just being bogged down. The serpentine belt and dirty throttle body would be the first places to check and since the serpentine belt is fine that just leaves the TB. You can go ahead and by some carb cleaner and shoot some into the TB and IAC while it's out and scrub with a tooth brush (just never use that tooth brush again). It's about a 15 minute job of vigorous scrubbing but if it was as dirty as mine you'll have black goo shooting out the whole time.

ya i am definitely leaning toward the intake route. so tommorow i am going to dismantle and clean the entire intake from the filter back to the throttle body including the iac and change the fuel filter.
