Question

G.E.M.

If I replaced the GEM in an effort to rid myself of a parasitic power drain, does anyone know if the new one has to be "programmed" by Ford (or any shop otherwise) before I can install it?
(I know where it is and can remove and replace it myself)

I believe it has to be programmed by a Ford service dept. I wouldn't just throw parts at it until you figure out where the drain is.

Get to work with a multimeter and figure out what is causing a drain.

I recently took it to an auto Electric "Specialty" shop who couldn't find the source of the problem either. So I had a Priority Start system installed that is suppose to disconnect when it gets to a certain point as to save the battery and be able to start the car. BUT it still keeps draining even with this system. Think my Pony is just possesed.

Completely disconnect the battery, let it sit that way for a few days and see if it still happens. It's possible that you got a bad battery.

So I completely disconnected the GEM (all 5 connections) and within 12 hours I went from 12.04 to 11.86 on my voltmeter. So now I am thinking its not my GEM. Anyone have any ideas? I will try the battery disconnect but its only a year old and my car has been garaged since November.

Do you have any sort of sound system with subs? I know you already took the car in and had it looked at so they probably would have checked that, but I have a buddy who had subs and an aftermarket HU installed in his car and his subs (or amp or something, I'm not into audio much) were always draining his battery while the car was shut off.
