Fuel filter Problems Need HELP!!!!

So I had to replace the fuel filler neck on my car and while I was dropping the tank i figured I may as well replace the filter. Now everything is going back together but I can't get one of the fuel line clips to lock onto the filter, Is there anything that I could be doing wrong? or is there some trick to getting these clips to lock on correctly?

Sometimes they take a little force to get them to lock into place. And if you're listening for a "click" noise, I don't believe they always click. When I replaced my fuel filter I just put a little muscle into it, heard nothing, but couldn't pull the fuel lines back off without using the tool to unlock them.

thanks, I got it, somehow the little lock springs got bent in when I pulled it off. I just used the unlocking tool to bend them back into place. it clicked and the car runs better now.
