Replacing v6 computer

My wife has a 1994 V6 auto and I've been having issues with and from what i can tell I've traced back to the ECU and I've been looking for a replacement but I can't seem to find the same coded computer. The computer that's in the car is a C4J2 and even when i goto the local parts store i can't get one with the same code. How critical is this as long as i get one from a 1994 V6 with an auto??

Bump for answers. What he said was as long as it's from a v6 auto car, will it work? There are many computers that cross for out fox cars, just have different label on the outside.

Local junk yards in this area are completely worthless for Mustang parts!! Or for any other make and model for that matter..

I don't think the code matters much. I THINK that as long as it is the same year (or at least model variation) with the same engine and tranny, it should work.

Try eBay and Craig's List. Stuff like that pops up ALL the time at decent prices.

Ill see if i cant find out, but a while back my dad replaced the ECU on his truck. It was a refurbished one, and works like new again. Look into it.

Hey, come to think of it, B&R in mapleton had some sixers in the yard there. Did you do a search on car-part.com? I'd do it for you, but I'm too lazy this morning.

My first post...hope its a good one. The C4J2 PCM was replaced by the C4J3 which was also used in the 95 3.8 auto.
