Throttle Cable Adjustment..
I was cleaning my car today, in and out, when I bumped my gas pedal and noticed it was pretty loose. I took a hold of it and pulled and it swung like a pendulum when I let go from it's peak height.
Looking under neath, where all the pedals are mounted, I see a long screw to which the throttle is mounted on, but it's sticking out pretty far (Normal?) and when I move it around (the pedal) it moves up and down quite freely. I researched a little, and can tell you I think it's the throttle cable is loose. If I open my hood and touch the wire, it too is really loose and you can pull on it. Could that be it then? I don't have a manual, so could someone do a quick list of things I could do and a how-to on adjusting the cable..? That'd be awesome. I figure this is one reason my throttle response sucks. I do need to clean my TB but my cousin and uncle said it wasn't in dire need yet.

lol the $2 gas pedal mod strikes again...it's handy to take up slack and for 2 weeks or so you'll feel you're the fastest car in the world. then you'll get used to it and just go back to normal DD
![]() i guess i need to go ahead and redo this to my v6 |

OH so everyone's pedal is loose like that? Every pedal I ever touched couldnt be moved unless pushed down.. Odd, but I'm glad I havent been driving on a broken accelerator.
Lol, I'll try this when I can get to a hardware store. Glad to see the new v6, I like that color.

It might make your car a little quicker, some people have said that before removing all the pedal free play they couldn't acheive WOT; but if you could before then, no your car will not be any faster.

Well like I said, it'll only be quicker if you couldn't achieve WOT before and can after. If you could reach WOT before, then your right it'll be just as slow.

I don't think he was talking about there being a problem...more that the pedal can just be lifted up and then dropped. Which, yes, is completely normal for and cable driven TB I would think. Sure, you can raise the pedal up, but you'll still be able to lift it and drop it. The only reason I did that mod was because I made the throttle pul a little different when I made my extension arm for my windstar, no biggie tho.

Alright I did the pedal mod, went to the hardware store and found all the stuff no problem. If anyone's pedal is too low for them, I suggest doing this! It's a huge improvement over the stock height. It was hard to get used to off the get go, wound up flying down my street passed my asian friend in his parent bought lexus. Felt nice to have that peppiness feel, more control, and I can feather properly.
Thanks guys! DO IT
