as far as gas mileage tips:
try sea foaming the car done
new fuel filter done
new spark plugshave ngk that arent installed
new air filterdone
run 5w-20 oil (if you dont already)running 5w-30 synthetic
I get shit for mpg, 200-225 a tank, foot isn't too heavy either

Auto Lite coppers are all we should put in our cars unless you have the mods that require a one step colder plug. They are like $2 each.

ive gotten very few times so dont feel to bad remember even though it has less cylinders, you need that much more power to get it going

i wish i got a gt but didnt have the money for it v6s and gts get the same mpg i usually

but to the topic i usually get 17-19 mpg normally (which i think is actually normal for v6s to get that) as well 20 if im very easy on the peddel. i have an auto so i cant control my rpms but i try and drive around the 1700 rpm range or less when accelerating it. it sucks and its slow but thats how i do it to get better mileage in the city 20-21 mpg area

oh yeah and too my topic above, thats with no a/c on too....

difference in a/c and no a/c i see a pretty big difference in rpm shifting points but yeah for mpg difference i noticed like 1-2 mpg and also for people that say aerodyanmic issues with keeping the windows down, i counteract that by keeping the drivers side up and the passenger window around 1/3 down. for some reason i feel the wind better when the passenger side is down. just some tips for you to get better mpg from my personal experience

You guys do realize you're driving a Mustang right? Not a hybrid....

And mustangs are considered Muscle Cars, so just being in that category means gas mileage wasn't top priority. Nothing like compared to today's standards anyways.

If gas is a problem, then a mustang is not a good choice for a daily driver.

+1. I believe octane refers to a fuels resistance to detonation. The higher the resistance, the more you can advance your timing. When your vehicle's timing is advanced to the point of a "93 octane" tune then it's putting that resistance to work. If you run a lower octane with the timing advanced then you put yourself at high risk of detonation which can quickly lead to engine damage. Generally cars come from the factory tuned to run on 87 octane so they can basically run any common octane (87-93) without much worry of detonation but they don't make any real use of the higher resistance that comes with higher octanes.

+1. Cheap and effective. I've got a set gapped and ready to replace the NGK's I stupidly bought when I was a total newby

I think a lot of people buy into V6 Mustangs expecting them to be great on gas compared to the V8 models. That doesn't tend to be the case though. There's a thread in the Clubhouse right now about what most GTs are getting for gas mileage, and almost all of them beat my V6 gas mileage. But I do agree, nobody should be buying into muscle/pony cars for gas mileage. These cars aren't made to rock out some kick ass gas mileage like a little I4 Civic or something.
