gt guy needing v6 help

Alright, My buddy just bought a 98 convertable v6 for his wife. It needs alot of work under the hood as well as interior. He got it dirt cheap and doesn"t mind putting a little in it to get it back on the road. What I need is a picture of the engine bay if anyone has one available because some kid has rigged the hell out of everything under the hood, brackets, wiring, etc. The service manual has a few pictures but they are black and white and not verry good.

Oh yea the dumbass that had it last lost the upper intake bolts so he used wood lag bolts to bolt it to the lower intake.

Any seasoned v6 advise and pictures would help greatly, thank you

I will try to get some pics for laughs asap. Its funny how some people will spend more time and effort rigging stuff rather than just fix it rite the first time.

my advise is to tell your friend to pony up for a $24 hanes book...it's the best thing a person rebuilding a car can have

Haynes manual it..

We can't help you with the wiring over the net much.. As far as the lower intake... Replace with new bolts.. If need be I would re thread them. It would be a lot of work for a 150hp motor.

Just get a new engine harness on ebay for $50 bucks and call it a day on the wiring.

Ok here is the story on the car...
His wife wanted a vert mustang, she doesnt care if it had a weedeater motor in it as long as she can put the top down a cruise.Anyways he came across this car through another friend. The lady that had the car took it from her son after she kicked him out of the house and shipped him to his dads house.
Long story short he got a straight car with a good top That runs (Like Shit) for $100.
We do have a manual on it so thats already covered, but i wish i could explain how bad it is under the hood.
Everything is rigged.
What we are going to do this weekend is pull the motor put it on the stand, pull the pan to look at the crank, pull the heads lap valves, all new gaskets, etc...

After a couple of trips to pick and pull for all of the accessories around the motor and maybe a windstar intake we hope to get it going.

Any good pics of a stock engine bay would be awesome. Thanks

you'll have to upgrade the single port to a split port to get a windstar to work out...

well if i were in your situation i would rip out the motor that is in there and part out anything that is good.

then i would put in a 99-04 v6 split port motor and call it a day.

Disregard the writing. It's for removing the EGR.

Probably won't help much now that I think about it.. (Mine is split port. His is single) But IDGAF.

Or a 4v 5.4 with either a cobra/Mach 1 intake, or a Cobra R split ram..

If you're going to do a swap. Do a V8. A really good one.

Thanks for the pics it helps a whole lot.
I am trying to talk him into putting in my other 351w that I just got back from the machine shop, but he really wants a decent fuel milleage v6 that his wife can play around in. So i guess we are just going to get this going for now.

id keep the v6 in there if he wants decent mileage. im assuming it has 2.73 gears also which would help with highway mpg.

if you find something is bad with the motor once you tear it apart, you should look into replacing it with a 99-04 splitport 3.8 motor rather than another 94-98 3.8 motor. there are some write ups about it of you search the web. it would be a nice power bump (190hp vs 150hp) and the same gas mileage.
