Mustang

I am looking to buy a 2nd car to drive to work since i put about 500 miles a week on my Mustang. I decided to stop by local Ford dealership and check out a used fusion, focus or something similar.

The sales man was talking to me about mustangs and one thing led to the other I drove the new automatic 3.7L V6 and the new manual 5.0 Gt. The V6 was pretty nice although was an auto; and the gt was awesome.

I am looking to get the 2nd car so that i can work on my car and fix her up. Lots of rock chips from the highway traffic and normal wear; plus i plan on doing normal performance upgrades.

The Gt made me think again on what i could do to my car. The new Mustangs are sick but a brand new car is out of my budget currently. I would like to plan on keeping the car forever, who knows if that will happen. But my plans are to make it a badass car. Either making it a V8 or keeping it a bad ass v6.

Id like to stay within a budget of 7-10k. It will probably change as I go but id like to set up a list on what do and what average prices will be.

Suspension, performance, styling, looks, lighting everything.

My Mustang is a 3.9 L manual v6. I did a dual exhaust with magna flows and i cut out the Y pipe and a CAI. Both are basic mods. I know there could be a list of stuff but I want a set up that will be the best.

For sound i have 1 solo barric L510 powered by a 1000wt 2 channel Kenwood excellon amp.

What your guy;s ideas?

For 7000 you could probably do a pretty decent 4.2 turbo build.

The owner of the body shop my family goes to said it would be 1500 to get the car in prestine condition on the exterior. no bad scratches and no dings so should be just paint. I plan on getting a gt rear bumper which would be about 250. so 1800. Interior 2tone katzkins would be around 1000 installled. Whats other ideas for interior upgrades?

wait....you want a good gas mileage car so you're wanting to mod the hell out of your v6?

honestly you have a very good gas mileage car right now. and the only mods you should be looking at are the ones that help increase fuel economy...just the 2cents from a guy that's owned a few gas guzzlers

A new paint job always revives an old car. I'm not sure why this is in the 2011 Six forum, but hey, we're always open to interesting conversations. I'm not sure I'd try and go with speed mods on an older 6. No offense, but they just aren't as fast or efficient...I'd clean the car up with a new paint job like you said, make it looking fresh and clean, enjoy the 'fresh' ride, and invest the cash into something else, like a mutual fund.

Koni's/ Bilsteins's/Tokido's

Springs Ford racing makes good stuff.

I prefer Koni FSD's w/ H&R springs, but that is money.

i do like the overall look of anything with H&R springs...if only they shifted weight like OEM springs (then again i'm in a v6 again so worrying about performance is out the window lol)..at least they ride good
