Clutches.

So, it's time to get a new clutch due to the dumping i do in my v6. I am guessing the people who owned the car before me had, well, done some pretty good driving in it, and the clutch wasn't in the best condition. So now i want to get a new clutch.

If you could, throw your own opinion out there of what kind of clutch you prefer, and why.

I myself have my sights set on a Zoom stage 2 from Summit- it seems to be what i want, with its kevlar pads and such. I wont mind the jerk it would give me when i'm shifting. Just let me know your own opinions on them though. thanks!

I was looking at that clutch today too. I do not know of anyone using it on a Mustang though. It appears it might be a high quality product but not mentioned much with our cars. SPEC, RAM, McLeod, Centerforce, Fidanza clutches will be represented here more I would imagine.
I love my SPEC Stage1 and SPEC billet flywheel. I like the way it engages smoothly at any rpm. It is a smooth shifting experience. It feels great even more so because I was driving around with a bad pilot bearing and throw out bearing.
Any of those mentioned above would be great. My favorite aspect of the work has been the quadrant, cable adjuster, and new cable because- No more of that Horrible Rattle From Cable To Fork under the car.
Please post what you choose and how it turns out. Are you getting a wider flywheel to match??

Hey man, one thing I forgot to mention in my PM.. Get a Ford OEM throwout bearing. Aftermarket throwout bearings have a pretty high rate of failure in our cars (generally within the first 1,000 miles). You can get it straight through Ford or there's at least one place that sells it online but I lost the link (hopefully someone can hook you up though).

Haha yeah. dad said to do that too. hes more of a old school chevy type, so only some information from him is helpful, lol. I come here since everyone is pretty much up on the same page on the technology cars have. :p

definitely will look taht up though- btw- is what he said true? that the clutches he said are pretty good with ours?

I was looking at the ram clutch today as well- the one on sale from AM for 160$ currently. would that one be better than the zoom?

I've been drooling over a Centerforce Dual Friction for a while now. I think that's the direction I'll be going for my clutch. Definitely not cheap though..

Oh ma gawd those are expensive. t.t... Well, im wanting to upgrade to a 99-04 v6 over the summer- maybe, if possible, even an 05. This is just a necessary mod because mine is making the metal to metal grinding sound every now and then ._.

American Muscle usually has the best price within a dollar or two for most things in general. Their customer service is great. RAM is a great clutch too. Maybe someone will pipe in and comment on it.
Good luck with it-

Hoping so- that 160$ price along with the 33$ throwout is damn good i think. how much does a resurfacing cost on a flywheel, though??
