MAC long tubes

ok, so to me, this is a confusing question. To my Knowledge, MAC LT are the only LT headers that come with the ports for the plugs to the EGR, correct? so with that said, I can keep the factory cats to keep the car legal? also, so I know that the first two cats will need to be moved back to fit with the LT's. Would this work?

I think pacesetter has an egr version but I'm not 100% sure.

Also I would go for some high flow cats vs the factory ones. But yes it would be possible to have th factory cats welded back up, however you will lose your 2 pre cats and I don't know if that has an effect on emissions or not.

No you can't keep the factory cats with longtubes. You'd have to get a catted shorty midpipe like this
BBK Shorty H-Pipe Catted (96-04 GT, Bullitt, Mach 1 and Cobra) at AmericanMuscle - Free Shipping!

or something along those lines.

I guess if you really wanted to you could get your factory cats welded in, but they're pretty restrictive it seems.

Pacesetter has a version, go to summit racing to get them
You can buy a mid pipe, and buy the cats, and have an exhuast shop weld them on.

i just cut off the flanges off my old downpipe, put those on the headers, and welded a high flow cat on either side. I already had divorced duls, so it was relatively easy.

I have these cats: 425250 - 2.5" Catalytic Converter O2

I got two of em. put the o2 bung side to the rear and angled them about 45 degrees in to fit the rear o2 sensors.

I had to drive the car to an exhaust shop with open headers, and it threw some codes because i disconnected the rear o2's until i could get the cats put in. They put the cats in and cleared the codes for me. It hasnt thrown any more codes since... I just hope it passes inspection...

Pay in cash and make them well aware that you plan on paying in cash. Shops are more likely to give the law the finger if you're paying in cash. That way they don't have to record what it was for or that they even did the work (although it's not legal, neither is removing cats).

If you have a professional install them, lining up shouldn't be a big issue. They should be able to get them lined up.

My guess would be the lack of flanges. Not everyone knows how to weld or has the equipment so most DIY'ers would probably prefer their headers to have flanges so they can just bolt it right up to their midpipe. Just a guess

Plus I don't think the cheap Pacesetters are ceramic coated. I think the more expensive ones are, but at that point you could pay about the same for MACs and have the flanges.

Pacesetters is what I went with.. Shit I even dropped the driver side one in from the top of the engine bay lmao

Keep in mind my heads are off but I don't think the install would be much worse... I havent put the passenger side in yet.. Your need to jack up the car quite a bit..

I tried dropping the passenger one in from the top but the o2 bung was too big

hmm well i got time to think about it lol. I'm in a Delema if i want to save for big back and get new wheels and lower the car, or get the windstar kit, or do the LT's. Wish i could do all three.

lol yeah true that. But I'm gonna wait till wheels to do that. Stock wheels on a lowered mustang just dose not flow IMO.
