Head bolts
I looked at the specs for the tightening of the head bolts. The final stage 3 tightening was like 37-39 foot pounds.... That can't be correct.. Anybody know the actual torque to tighten too for the head to block bolts.
This question is aimed at people who have changed their heads/head gaskets before... Not anyone else ![]() Also on a better note I could drop my driver side long tube from the top of the engine not under

Lol I don't think I would want to tighten them to 39 inch pounds lmao
39 ft pounds just seems too low considering the force it took to remove them

I asked inches because the 4.6 is in inches as far as I remember. Obviously not 39.
Hopefully someone will chime in.

Every place I found listed them very close to the following:
--Step 1 15 ft/lbs --Step 2 29 ft/lbs --Step 3 36 ft/lbs --Step 4 Loosen 2 full turns (from this point on, work with one bolt at a time) --Step 5 (Long bolts) 29-37 ft/lbs --Step 5 (Short bolts) 11-18 ft/lbs --Step 6 Tighten additional 180 degrees

Just to make sure, you do know not to reuse the torque to yield head bolts right?

I didn't think any of our head bolts were torque to yield anyways?

They are. That's why they have such an involved torque sequence and cannot be reused.
