Carpet fitting

Has anyone fitted new carpet? Mine fits ok, it has been molded to the floorboards (so said the company I bought it from). Now that I'm trying to fit it though, I'm wondering a few things. I don't really know how it is supposed to fit because it was sopping wet and rotting when I removed the old carpet:

- are you supposed to glue it down with anything? It seems kinda loose. Granted I have plastic trim removed, and maybe that helps hold it down.

- It's kinda tricky punching holes for bolts, wires, etc. Any tips?

- how far over the back of the floorboards, where they come up to the front of the rear seat, is the carpet supposed to overhang? As far as it wants?

- it seems a little too long in front too. If I need to trim an inch or two off, here and there, is that normal?

- I think the old carpet had some velcro to help hold the front up there. is that something someone did aftermarket?

Here is a pic of what it looks like now. See how it's kinda loose (not fitting closely to the contour of the floor) and it overhangs in the back?

Hmmm - I don't suppose anyone wants to perhaps unclick the rear seat cushion and lift one of the door trim pieces to have a peek, do they??
