The reason it says not for verts is because verts are heavier by a few hundred pounds

Your tires are actually 245 wide. The 40 in the tire size refers to the sidewall. It means the sidewall is 40% the size of the tire width. That 40 translates into 98mm on your tires. With a good set of shocks and struts I don't think you'll have too worry much about rubbing.
