supercharger not sounding too healthy...

i dont know why but all the sudden at random times teh s/c would seem to whine more for some reason and then it would be ok and if it sat then i drove it sounded ok then back to being louder again. now i went out for a 10min drive and it never stopped . it seems even louder. like at idle if you put your ear by it its almost uncomfortable because of teh loudness. i really dont have the kind of money to have this damn thing rebuilt i just had the head gaskets replace and now this. im guessing the bearings are fudged i dunno but it doesnt sound healthy. any ideas or anyone else experience this?

i really don't know anything about S/C but it could be the bearings or it could be a loose belt, not 100% sure tho

I hate to say it, but it does sound to me like the bearings are pretty well fried or pretty damn close to being so. Although, it could be the belt as well, from your description of the problem, it sounds more internal. To be more sure though, check the belt tension and if that is OK, you have pretty well narrowed it down. BTW, if your s/c has external oil lines, you may also want to make sure that the bearings are getting enough oil. I hope that this helps you out some.

I think you can get an upgrade to T-trim for like $800

My recommendation on the supercharger would be this; Disconnet/disengage the supercharger as soon as feasibly possible because it is only a matter of time , possibly days or weeks depending, before it does blow up in your face. From the sounds of it, more than likely days. As mdvaldosta did point out, you can purchase a brnad new replacement/upgrade for around the same cost as a rebuild for your current one. Either way, it would still be less expensive in the long run as it will definitely cost more by way of engine repairs along with a s/c if it is not disengaged because it could do some internal damage to the motor when it finally does give i.e. - headgasket replacements, possible cracked head/s, valve problems, etc. along with the highly likely chance to incur piston ring replacement and so forth due to detonation within the cylinders. I know that was probably not exactly what you wanted to hear considering, but on the brighter side, I can tell you that a Procharger is far less expensive than a Vortech with the added bonus of it being totally self-contained (NO external oil lines) and gives just as much performance, if not more, than the Vortech as you can find them anywhere from 7 psi to 11 psi. Again, I hope this helps out.

Thanks a lot for that info. i will be disconnecting it as soon as humanly possible. i will probably have it rebuilt since i dont have the time or money to change everything to another supercharger so ill just have to send this one to vortech. and have them send me the right serpentine replacement while there at it. again thanks.
