As for your original issue, dropping in a 3.7L V6 is no walk in the park and your dad is an idiot for thinking a 305hp V6 is going to be safer than pre-11 V8s (specifically ones designed for Mustangs). That engine puts down similar numbers to the 03/04 Mach 1's and 99/01 Cobras (although I believe their torque ratings are quite a bit higher). Plus, as mentioned, there is no turbo kit designed for the 3.7L V6 yet so you're going to have quite a project on your hands, especially since you say you're just learning about working on your car. That engine isn't going to match up to your k-member or transmission plus you're going to need all of the wiring, computer, drive shaft, 8.8" rear end, and lots of little parts. If this is something you're serious about, wait for someone to get t-boned, buy up the car (expect to pay a pretty penny), and get to work. Hopefully you have another car to drive because this won't be some weekend project.

lol did u see the message in question

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and offer the following suggestions:

5.0 motor (the old one) or a 4.6L DOHC. Both can swap in relatively easily, and both can make respectable power on the cheap. You can even get donor cars fairly cheap from a junkyard. It's certainly less effort and less money to go this route. It may not be as unique, but there will be a lot less headaches.

Just a thought.
