98 v6 fuel pump or other issues. Help

I am helping my buddy get his sixer going and we run into a little
snag with fuel issues.
Here is the problem...
The pump will prime the system for 1-2 seconds
after you turn the key to the on position but when you
crank it the pump does not run.

Any suggestions?

Oh yea, Just replaced fuel pump today.

Kinda leaning towards cam sensor but everybody says most of the time it will just run like crap if bad.

Sounds more like a fuelpump relay to me... have you tested it yet... should be another one like it in the box in another spot pic one that wont inhibit the car from running and swap them out, if it works your problems solved, if not i'd start trouble shooting elsewhere.

Well we tried just about everything.
Acording to the shity haynes manual there is only a fuel pump
fuse.
The fuel pump and injectors seem to be controlled by the little computer
below the air filter housing.
I cant remember the name of the computer, some kind of relay module.

Ok I just looked at the manual its called the
Constant control relay module.
The book says this module and the pcm work together to control the
fuel system.
But I have never heard of either of these two going out.

After googling the ccrm i found another guy whohad similar problems, is the fuse popped? the other guys fuse kept popping and he had a melted wire touching an exhaust pipe, causing a short to ground which he originally believed to be a ccrm problem, just something worth looking for.

No it doesnt pop the fuel pump fuse but untill we put
a new alternator in the car it kept blowing all of the fuses under
the dash.
The kicker is the fuel pump runs for a secont to prime the system but
doesnt pump or fire the injector when you crank the engine.

thanks for the research i have been looking
around also on how to test all of the components before we start throwing parts at it.

Also has anyone on here ever seen a crank sensor or a cam sensor
cause this issue.

Hmm sounds like u have the same problem i got with my other 6'er. i bought a new fuel pump just the little pump its self not the whole thing. it's 300 for the whole thing. when i saw it was changing it n shit the left rubber hose had a crack in it so i super glued the hole and changed the pump and my 6'er fired up like that was the problem but it wasnt. come to find out 1 of my fuel injectors is bad. not saying it's ur's but maybe its a fuel injector? it's a bitch to replace and their pricey lol. also i found out i have a crack on 1 of my cat's but i got no exhaust leak. hope u figure out the problem!

That red part has me a bit worried that something got fried, how bad was it overcharging, how any volts?

Check your cam position sensor..the crank sensor is for ignition. The cam sensor is for fuel, if it's bad it will not let the fuel system work. I would pull it off and clean it and then re-install it..it's a magnet so make sure it still is..

Quicksilver- We dont know about overcharging my buddy bought
this car not running so we dont know.
It just popped fusses when you turned the key on.
After we replaced the alternator and fixed a few bad wires
all of the fusses do not pop and they make everything work they go to.

Oasis- yes we did yake the cam sensor off and clean it and tested it.
We went by the book and my only concern is that it would backbrobe with
the key on 5 volts for a split second while slowly manualy turning the
engine over. I figured it would hold 5 volts as long as the little cam syn was in line with the sensor, but i dont know
we are still searching.

Everybody we talk to says replace the ccrm relay and it will fix it.
tommorow we are going to pull the ccrm and take the cover off of it
and put voltage to it and manually check all of the relays before we buy a
new one.Hope we find the problem.

Thanks for the input anymore advise would greatly help.
