egr or non egr
hey im getting the pacesetter headers off summit today and i dont know if i need the egr or non egr....
my car is a 2000 v6 and im confused because the website says that the non egr version is for 94-04 and the egr version is for 01-04. isnt the only difference like a vacuum line or tube to the smog pump or something?? how do i know bwahh help lol i want to order them before i go to work today so they can ship out

I dont see why 01 headers with egr wouldnt work. My 2002 headers worked with my 2000 egr.

yeah so when you put them in what did you hook up to the headers im going to go look if i have it.... i think i remember somewhere that some early new edges had a different system that changed the headers

The egr inlet tube hooks to the passanger side header. And they did change it up some but the fittings r still the same.

The 99-00 version probably has ports for air injection.
I am assuming that pacesetter has put that because the 01-04 style with egr will not work with 99-00 cars that have air injection. Not all 99-00 mustangs have air injection. You can see the port that I capped off on mine here because my car doesn't have it. There is another port exactly like this on the other side. Edit. I will have to post the pic when I get home. Stupid photobucket app won't let me find it. |

right now my car idles funny because my egr is stuck open and throwing a code. i cant get a tuner before i do the drive... but if i cap it off will it cause any problems other than a code?

and just so that everyone can get in my shoes... i have 2 weeks till i need to go and i want to get the headers, put them in, have the car running best possible with as little codes as possible for this trip, if we break down i will NEVER hear the end of it hahaha

ok well i can make a block off plate for my egr but will my mpg suffer horribly? i mean technically if theres no egr opening on the headers and the opening on the intake is blocked then it should be fine?
or would my best bet just be to cap off the tube that goes down to the manifold. im going to be running without cats if that helps. homemade MIL's edit. i wont be able to get a tuner till i get to florida so tuning it for non egr isnt an option for the trip i may have to drive like a month without a tune....

You'll be fine with just an egr code, err... i mean you already have one on right now due to it being stuck open...I'm pretty sure it being stuck open is hurting your gas mileage right now. I wonder how much timing its pulling due to that.

also for anyone that has done the headers... i have divorced duals and dont want to get a midpipe.... how did you connect the downstream sensors?? im thinking just drilling a hole into a pipe and then using something to seal it off.... not sure edit: could i just tuck them somewhere away? since im not going to have a midpipe therefore not going to have the bungs is it possible to do that? like make the splice in mil's and then just tuck away the rear 02's or do they need to be in the pipe....????
